Is there a builder (company) who makes oversize (approx. 5 feet diameter) floating tables for a seance type stage show?

I sell a way to use a standard, ungimicked card table.

What I intend is, to surround the table with 8-10 spectators, touching
fingers. Suddenly the thing floats up. I don't want to be near the table so I need a super light one that can easely be animated.

The challenge may be how you're going to keep the volunteers from noticing that the table is so light. It's one thing working with a single spectator, but 8 to 10 will present some problems.

This would be a one-of special order. Guess you'll have to call around builders and get price quotes.

You are describing the effect that David Berglas caused a sensation with. He later taught the routine exclusively to David Copperfield who toured with it and performed it on his 'Unexplained Forces' television special, as well as on 'Oprah'. However, the tables are real and heavy.

We just finished a 2nd floating table for Teller/Robbin's "Play Dead" If you have seen the show, you know it not only floats, but supports the weight of 2 people.

There is also a new floating table manuscript from Tannens called: L.I.F.T. Although "impromptu," the ungimmicked table used has some requirements. We build proper tables for the effect. For the $25, it's worth it for research!!

I saw that table in Play Dead too. It was great.
It does sound like the original poster was looking to do a Berglas style floating table. The real expense on this is not the table, but in your weekly payroll. |

I can vouch for Todd's comment on the Berglas Table routine.

Some time ago I read about how the mediums levitated tables back in Houdini's time. I found it very interesting. You might be able to modernize some of those techniques.
