Yes, much more of a mentalism type piece could be made of it without the new deck idea.
Get them to think of a number but not tell you. Take out a blank card and right the prediction. Take out the deck and do a few false cuts like they they mean something. Then get then to say the number out loud and prove that you did know the number by showing the result. Any of the above to make a piece of mentalism out of it instead of a card trick.

I am wondering what Craig would score the trick at after he has learnt the method and saw the worst case scenario.

I'd be interested to see a WPR of "Nostradamus' Chest" from Viking Magic, which has the same effect as "Think", but uses a totally different principle. My stage version also eliminates many of the glitches with the original - a jumbo card, which has been in view for the whole routine, is turned around, and matches the card at the chosen number.
Really pleased to see a review of a kids' product: "Food to Go". I have this, and am very happy with it. But I'd be curious to know where to get a fake burger, because I don't have the time to go to a Mcdonald's before every show, to buy a real hamburger. Is there any chance of a "special" WPR of effects specifically for Christmas shows for kids and families? If so, Craig and David, I own most of the Christmas props available, (apart from the very expensive snowstorm effects), and would be happy to point you to the BEST items for these shows. Another great show, you've made me seriously consider "Pure Smoke", but I won't be getting it right away. I still think there is a better version out there, which we have yet to see...... Always enjoy your reviews, and now I have put the WPR on my favourites list, I shouldn't miss many, except if I'm terribly busy. You are very lucky dudes, in the magic world, to get ALL the latest new stuff sent to you....so keep up the good work, and keep sharing. Doug |

On "Think", I agree with those that posted having the deck sealed adds nothing to the effect and that even if people do not know the new deck order, most know that there is an order. While I like the idea of displaying props in a "virgin state," I have no use for a deck shrink wrap machine. I do not think that we need to scream, "look it is a regular deck!" If a spectator knows that cards can be specially printed, they can probably also figure out that these same cards can be shrink wrapped!
My concern is why have I never seen a demo of "Think" with a prediction playing card with a different colored back? Is it because you cannot do this? Does the writing have something to do with it? I know that we are not supposed to be posting these type of things here, but is there something hidden under your fingers? |

Pet shop props? I like it! Now you say that, I think I might have seen similar at "Pets At Home" in the UK....

For "Food to Go" why not just use the wrapper from a burger? Just make a rough burger out of foam or something and wrap it up so it looks like you just got it from McDonald's. With two of those and an empty cup with lid and straw you'd be all set.

Thanks for the comments guys.
For what it's worth I now know how Think works and I am super impressed. I have not seen the Grail so I cannot comment on the differences but in my opinion Think is great. I have performed it numerous times and it gets a great reaction especially if you build up the impossibility of the effect. There really are no multiple outs (by multiple outs I mean numerous predictions). In fact the prediction can be in full view at all times and can be written on anything. Obviously the procedure is slightly different depending on the number named but each procedure is logical and makes sense in the context of the routine. I have a handling that makes it an ACAAN instead of a CAAN and I will share this after I have worked with the concept more. For what it's worth I agree that the Wonder Sealer should not be used in this routine as the deck is not in new deck order. Dave totally disagrees with me however and we have been arguing about it but there is nothing new there. Regarding Food To Go I really like it and think it's good. I can see I use for it and it is a lot better than anything else I have seen Twister Magic bring out. Hope this helps Craig |

Well then you tell Dave that the general consensus here on the Café is that he is wrong! lol One might as well go to the extreme of sealing an ID and presenting it as a new sealed deck. You then tare off the seal, open it up, spread out the cards to make the reveal and all of the cards are seen to be mixed up! That just ain't gonna fly with any intelligent spectator aside from the fact that it really doesn't ad all that much to the effect and is totally unneeded and the exact same applies to "Think". Hey....I just thought of a good use for that plastic hammer! Give Dave a smack over the head with one and bring him back to his senses!

You also have to understand that in the UK most people haven’t seen a pack of Bikes unless they see a magician. They are not the most common cards for sale. I explain that all the cards are punched out of a large sheet before sliding down a shoot like a water fall. The jokers and advertising cards are added just before the deck is sealed. I explain that this means that the deck is in a totally random order and I then go on to perform THiNK. I can honestly say that I have never been questioned on this and the punters in the UK buy into the whole thing. I do appreciate that this would not work as well for punters that are very familiar with Bikes but in the UK that is not the case. All the best Dave

Love the show guys, it's my reliable go-to to prevent me from wasting money.
BUT....I sure wish you'd let us know the approximate price of the effect you're reviewing. Please start telling us how much things cost. In pounds and dollars. Thanks for your work.

Dave mentions that there is another version "where you can cleanly show one business card at the end [...], you can have it on a banner..." (17:40)
Correct me if I am wrong, but that sounds like you cannot have the prediction on a "banner" or show the "one business card cleanly" in the version that Dave performed (the best one for video). Am I missing something here? |

Is there any reason why you can't take out the sealed deck, unwrap it and do a series of false shuffles. Am I missing something as this solution seems obvious?

I like Wonder Sealer, but don't feel it's neccessary for "Think". There are some great applications for the device, but I think it's wasted on an effect like this.

I don't know, I have to agree with Kyle on this one. If you take it out of a sealed pack and "shuffle it" and then place on the table away from yourself before you begin the effect, in the mind of the spectator I don't think you've really "handled" the cards as they wouldn't understand how you could possibly have set something up. However, the jokers/ad cards would cause a problem so it might not work well for this effect, but for stacked effects in general I could see the wonder sealer as being useful.
