I just placed my order for this. The more I think about it the more I like it.
While I wait for this, I will spend some time brainstorming some good ways to cleverly activate it while strolling. |

For those who have this, do you just need to position the bolt close to a m***** only to activate. or does it need to remain within the m******* field till the nut comes off? Thanks -

Hmmm..... I wonder what m***** or m******* field means?
Sorry, but it always gives me a chuckle when people think they are being secretive with such posts at to fill in a word with asterisks, and or other such symbols, and actually think that no one has any idea what they are referring to except to those that have the trick! lol Other than that, there is a forum on the Café called; "The Secret Sessions".

Hey gaffed, you are probally right... The ad for this effect has been very open on the methodology so we probally do not need to be quite so "covert". Your suggestion of Secret Sessions is a good for discussing nuances on this.
Rowdymagi5, once you get yours feel free to PM me and I will share the technique I am using for walk around. I am pleased with how long the tiny battery is holding up. I ordered a bunch of extras on-line very cheaply but so far have not needed to replace it (and I have been playing with it alot!) May be my imagination but it seems the noise has dampened as the battery gets some use on it. John |

I've just succumbed and ordered one.
I'm wondering if I can use a very large special something that I bought some time ago for another effect. I can put it in a lightweight travel money belt that hangs at waist height and disappears under clothing. I guess it depends on the sensitivity of the device but if it can work with a gimmick under a table, it feels like it should work to me. One question is there an on/off switch for transport purposes or does one need to be careful about where to store/carry this? |

Hi Martin... should work for you fine. No off on switch.

Gaffed, I agree that it does seem silly, I was just following what others here are doing (trying not to get in trouble with the mods here). I do appreciate the info about the unit, and am sure I could make this work for me for walk-around - I just like to have as much info as possible before I drop a chunk of change on some new prop (because we have all been burned at one time or another, most of us probably more than once). Best wishes to all -

I have seen and handled Micro Psychic but do not own one as yet. However I will be purchasing Micro Psychic, just to keep as a novelty prop in my collection as the prop is built using tiny components.
Let me make one thing clear. The sound emitted by the spinning nut gives a clear indication of vibration. Only a dumb will think something really magical is taking place. As much as one might like to convince ones own self or the spectator by trying to make-up or give any reasons to the contrary, the fact remains that the spinning sound of the nut clearly yells 'vibration' - and this is MY honest opinion. Others may or may not agree with me and may have a different opinion. One might like to read THIS post.

If performing in a venue with background noise that may help.
Also, some have said that holding tightly onto the nut instead of the bolt may help with the noise issue as well. Another thought, when the battery starts to wear down a bit the vibration wont be as intense. Maybe that would make a difference as well. All speculation on my part as my unit has not arrived yet (slow-poke mail service). Maybe those with this item can add to the discussion with their thoughts. |

Edh, I think all of us owners of the effect including Robert and simsocor have been "honest" in our posts. We have all clearly stated there is noise. The diffence in opinion will be in how much that negatively impacts performing this. I have put quite a bit of time in with this and have perfromed it about 20 times. Reactions are vety good. Do some think there is something funny with the bolt, probably but they are still very intrigued and entertained with this. I have performed at least 4 versions of this effect and honestedly there are always some that think there is something funnny with the bolt, even if it is normal. For me and the conditions I am using it in the pros outweigh the cons... if it didn't get a positive reaction it would be going in the "drawer". Others mileage will vary.
I have started perfroming it slightly different. They way I handle the bolt I can easily turn it on and off. I hold the bolt in my fingertips of my left hand and extend the forefinger of my right. I now hold the right forefinger about 6 inches above the bolt and mime aggressively spinning the nut with a flicking action. At the same time I turn the bolt on and off. Creates a cool visual of the bolt apparently spinning in sympathy with my finger actions. Looks good and the sound is more justified as I am "invisbly" spinning it with force. Like I said before the prop is fun to experimnt with. This has made by Top 3 list for 2011. Cheers, John |

JM, I didn't mean to imply that other posts about this effect were dishonest. I was commenting on Ustaad's post.
Thanks for the tip John.

Thanks for your suggestion -- excellent idea.
Magic is about a suspension of disbelief...wonder and imagination...I have performed the effect for several different audiences -- magicians, college students, senior citizens -- all with great success -- in short, I have use the notion that "...it has been determined certain human humming sounds create vibrations that activate the nut and bolt and so forth...." as everyone begins to humm, I ask them to listen to the amplification, the impetus for the mysterious movement, and the nut moves, etc....they help create the magic! Those who own this can view an explanation video where another routine is shown that is "hands off". Pretty cool effect as well.
