MatriXpress by Shawn Farquar,
I went to a lecture where Shawn performed two Matrix routines. He uses a different kind of method to do it, one with coins and the other with poker chips. The one with the poker chips was a nice visual effect. He has pictures with his hands on the cards and the poker chip would pop out of the card. My question is how do you think this kind of Matrix will work surrounded with what he uses? One with Coins.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAGjRLR2s......response One with Poke Chips.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD_qteaWyyw&feature=related Paul |

Well, the coin routine was well done in an easy going manner yet with a lot of energy (MatriXpressO?).
The first poker chip routine looks like it MUST use gimmicks. The second routine's handling was a little sloppy and STILL appears it MUST use gimmicks. IMHO. I prefer more natural magic that doesn't looked "fixed." So I vote for coins. Also, it will depend on YOUR handling.

Armando Lucero has placed the bar extremely high in this sort of effects. Could it be beat? I doubt it and I'm not shy.

Performing surrounded? Hard to say.
A spectator behind Shawn might have seen something, but with you'd probably be fine performing standing, say, for people sitting around at a round table. You might manage surrounded if the table is tall (if standing) or your are sitting at the table. Given that you have rehearsed your angles. |
