I'm considering putting a guest book on my site to 1. Have a consistent flow of testimonials and 2. Make my site more interactive.
Most of the sites I found that have guest book software have ads unless you pay a monthly fee. I'm not about to pay the monthly fee because I know I can either find a truly free version with no ads, or find a business oriented software that includes it (even if I have to pay for that one). At the moment I can't see the guest book having the value of the monthly fee unless there are other features included. Does anyone use anything like this? Dave |

Hmm...interesting. I've always made my sites on dreamweaver, but in the web design class I'm in right now we're getting into using wordpress as a content management tool. I'll have to check out those features then. Thanks!

Wordpress would be a great bet but can be a hassle to convert over to if you're using a static html based site. If your host supports php, here's a whole list of free guestbooks

I am starting to collect email address now; Starting in January I am going to start collecting emails on my website also, I will have the ability to have an email reminder sent at a time that the client wants’ to be reminded that they spoke to me, or visited the site and was interested in having me perform at a birthday party. They can do this on the website by typing the information in and this web company will automatically send the reminder.
I also going to place a calendar on my site so they can block time out real time with a PayPal deposit |

That sounds pretty similar to what I've been doing for a little over a year now; it's worked out very well. It's definitely nice to have a system to track the follow-ups and reach out to customers on their schedule. There's nothing more satisfying than having one of those follow-ups go out and book a show without even having to think about it!
The only thing I've thought about, but never done, is publish my calendar online. My system can do that-to publish the calendar and allow people to book in real-time, I just prefer not to publish my calendar. Despite not publishing my calendar, I have different websites that I'm marketing to experiment with varying levels of automation of the booking process and all the contingencies. What I've learned from the experiment is that some shows, like birthday parties, can be completely automated, where corporate events I prefer to automate almost everything but have a hand in the process. |

I have to say, I am very impressed with the features that can be built into wordpress. I'm also glad that it does help automate things; I don't have to sit here and constantly research static html code to try and embed other features. I finally feel like having a website won't be a burdensome object.
What kind of plugins and features do other people use? So far I've added facebook and twitter buttons, a contact form, and a guestbook. |

Cool I'll check it out. Hopefully there's a plug in to connect to the matrix.
