Evening Ladies and Gents,
My good friend Cody Nottingham has just made his debut over at Theory11's Wire with his fantastic card through cellophane effect. Check it out : http://www.theory11.com/wire/cody-nottingham/in2/ Post your thoughts... let's get a good discussion going! Many Thanks, Geraint |

Oh HELL YES! F.i.n.a.l.l.y! I'm so exited to see this finally put out in to the public domain. When me and Geraint Clarke tried to start our own online venture about 3 years ago, Cody submitted this to us, we instantly [b]loved[/l] it! Unfortunately, business didn't take off and nothing ever came of this... until now.
It's a beautifully simple piece of magic. It's direct, visual, every move is completely motivated and in general just a great piece of magic for the spectator. Cody is a dedicated creator and really cares about magic, at $4.95, this is a total steal! Support creators who want to improve our art, fellas. Good job, Cody! Lloyd |

Not a clue how this was done, but I do have a question...
WHAT is the motivation for doing this? Why would you only tear off a corner of a card? I don't get the "why" and b/c of that, I don't really care about the "how."

Magic is a curious thing, and magicians sometimes do things that seem natural to us now, but are quite un-motivated outside of our profession. Some people put a pencil through a borrowed banknote, some people put a card through cellophane. I suppose it's up to the performer to find a place, reason and presentation that suits their performance style.... but as you know.. this discussion could go on all day. Cheers, Geraint. |

That's really clever. One presentation to use would be to talk about the David Blaine card through window effect. Most people have seen him do that on TV. Say you can do a smaller version of it. Dave Forrest used a similar presentation for his "Glazed and Confused" effect on his Trickery DVD set but it works well for this effect.

That is easy. There are lots of card tricks involving to tear off the card. Do that first.
Even do it seperately, I do not find any problem with that. It is visual and direct. People will not bother to ask why to do it. The only question is the motivation move. If it is only about the shake part, I can accept that. Are there any other part? Quote:

(like an odd cross between a Daniel Garcia effect and Fearsons Legend effect). Regardless, the motivation aside from making money is left up to the performer I suspect as many of the tricks released through these venues today have no presentation offered from real world applications.
