You're about to be born and you can pick ANY COUNTRY on EARTH to be born in, BUT, you have to be born to the poorest person in that country. Where are you born? AND WHY?
I pick the U.S. because there is nothing stopping someone here from being whatever they want to be. |

Interesting question.
Off the top of my head, I'd say Canada because there is nothing stopping anyone here from being whatever they want to be and I think the poorest get a better deal than their counterparts in, say, the U.S. Giving it a few moments more thought, I might change my answer to the Principality of Monaco. I'm told that it is a beautiful place to live, it has zero unemployment, no income tax, the highest life expectancy in the world, a great climate, and I think the poorest there are what we consider to be the middle class in Canada or the United States. There are probably also some lovely unspoiled tropical islands where I would be happy to be born to the poorest inhabitant thereof (places where 'poor' is irrelevant), but I don't know their name.

The principality of Monaco DOES sound nice. Why not move there?

Being born and living there from day one is one thing. Moving there, when your family is all elsewhere, is another.
Besides which, from what I've read, gaining residency in Monaco is difficult.

Germany. The Black Forest. I could live off of the land.

The United States of America.

I'd pick Angola. It has the highest infant mortality rate in the world and hopefully I wouldn't have to spend my entire life living in poverty on this dear planet.
If not that I'd pick the Vatican City. |
