I just received an email letting me know that my breeding rabbits have given birth to four baby rabbits; after thinking about what to do with all the babies, I am working on an idea of producing four rabbits at the end of my performance, one after another, fast paced and placing them all in a shallow open cage for all the kids to pet.
Do you think this is over the top? |

I see no problem with the idea. Try using a Jumbo Square Circle. Put three metal layers supported by a hinge at different levels. Begin by bringing out the first rabbit on the top layer. As you bring out the first one, the same time pull the top layer as it lays flat against the wall, leaving you room to pull out the second rabbit. Repeat the process.
Always remember to be creative. You might become popular for being the first magician to do this effect. You might receive offers to make more for others. |

I like Dynamike's idea,
I used 3 rabbits at a charity event this past summer, one from a mirror box, the second from "Abbotts Elusive Bunny Box" I then put the two small rabbits into a blammo and changed them into a 20lb Rabbit... Talk about over the top. I let the kids pet the BIG Rabbit.... |

The biggest problem I see with multiple rabbits is the transport and loading. You will need multiple cages because when they grow up they will have to be kept separate. At some point they will fight.....and they may do some other things also!
I usually try to keep 3 or 4 bunnies at all times, but I only use 1 at most shows. I have special colored, or types of bunnies that I use for certain routines, but about 90% of the time I only use one per show. I have never used more than 2 bunnies in the same show. I have a pet carrier for each one, and they are never kept in the same transport cage or production/vanishing compartment. Using 2 requires about twice the effort as one, so I can't imagine myself using 4 bunnies at the same time on a regular basis.

Thanks Dynamike;
I was thinking of using different props, moving from one to the next I now start by performing by doing the bigger wand and Bunny Box where I finally produce a rabbit; then adding to the routine by moving to the slide box, showing it empty, then with a rabbit, and a rabbit pan, a balloon to bunny and ending the show by having the kids sit in a circle and allowing the rabbits to be petted |

Regan;
In my advertising, I offer the option of the parents buying the rabbit and surprising the birthday child with the rabbit as a gift at the end of the show. I never have a rabbit for an extended time, as they are purchased and never grow up with me. It is the reason I own breeding rabbits http://kids-magic.com/rabbit.php |

Hi Howie,
We have often done multiple rabbit productions in our various family shows and have done them in a variety of methods. The easiest is a prop we build for ourselves that looks similar to a Doll House Illusion, but doesn't work quite the same. It begins with the four walls folded down. The walls are folded up and a roof is placed on top. The roof is removed and we reach inside and pull out 5 live rabbits. Another simple method is a prop we built that looks similar to a square circle, but it is a box within a box. It works similar to a square circle, but it has separated and easily accessible l**d chambers. Another method we use a theme of a vanishing and reappearing rabbit. One year we would make a rabbit appear under a silk on a table top and then vanish it in a prop that works similar to a Parker Doll House but in reverse that leaves just a drawing of a rabbit on a piece of felt. The felt rabbit it then put into a small tip over box to make the rabbit "reappear." Vanish "it" again with a black art box that leaves an envelope. Take the envelope and put it into a mailbox rabbit production. Traveling with multiple rabbits and doves was never a problem for us. The reaction they get in the shows make it worthwhile. |

Thanks for the feedback, I am glad that other magicians are now using multiple rabbits with success; I have had smaller litters in the past, and unfortunately one or two do not survive, this is the largest little and the first time they have all lived, now I am experimenting with using them until they sell. Since you are building your own props, I can’t see the products you are buying to be doing that well |
