So word is they're remaking Total Recall with Colin Farrell in Arnold's place, not going to Mars, and rated PG-13.
I'm fixing to give up on movies altogether. http://raincoaster.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/wwkd.jpg?

Not going to Mars?
Why call it Total Recall then? Just like that new "Karate Kid" doing Kung Fu... Just give it another title...

I understand they are trying to make it all family friendly but jesus. There are people who still enjoy rated R flicks. I appreciate what type of hard work that goes into a movie but 80% of the movies that come out are crap. Its why I love my nextflix. |

Ummmm... marketing? As long as they get their money opening weekend they don't mind cheating you.
1. Find a previous successful idea. 2. Rehash it enough to be different. 3. Reference the original for creditability. 4. Add polish.... a little dab will do ya

I don't mind remakes if they are bringing a new audience to a great concept. I believe "Gone in 60 seconds" is a good example. (Yes it was a remake) I would love to see a remake of Logan’s Run. It is a great concept and most people have never seen it. But at the same time, I watched the remake of "The Thing" and was disappointed in the delivery (I was expecting a cohesive prequel)

Yeah, they want to pretend the original movie didn't exist... except when it sells tickets. They're keeping the title to sell tickets, but then they want to make it a faithful adaptation. They should make up their minds. Either they hated Total Recall and want to 'do it right,' or they love the money Total Recall made and they want some of it.
If they want a different movie then they could have called it "We can remember it for you" or "Remember, Wholesale," or "Total-ly Different Movie," or anything. By calling it 'Total Recall,' they are setting up certain expectations that they have no plans to meet. That's dirty pool.

Anybody goes to a movie based on a title without doing some research deserves disappointment.

Speaking of titles, I see the title of my thread changed itself into one that no longer has the spin on the line from the movie. Sad. I thought it was a good title.

Jason Momoa should be in the new one as well.
Call it "Recall".

Three of Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi films are in the process of being remade:
