Really there's not much you can do in terms of grand illusion for only $100. Most of the props you might think of in his category cost thousands, not hundreds of dollars.
However, with that being said, there are some options to explore. Personally I would recommend you get your hands on a copy of Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. This will put you on an excellent path toward so many branches of magic. Close up, stage, and there is a chapter on illusions that can be accomplished without breaking the bank. If you're a little bit creative about how you decorate some of these simple props, you will have some excellent effects in your repertoire. Good luck! |

A reel and a large feather?
I did that once many years ago on a stage in front of ca. 3000 visitors and they where very excited. Cheap and impressive. Especially if you pick the feather out of the air and give it as a gift to the wife of some VIP. She will love you for that. Mentally. Richard |

Also check out Andrew Mayne's stuff. All of it can be built very inexpensively...and most are pretty darn effective. Google him.
There is also someone on here thast sells plans for illusions that can be made cheaply...can't remember the name of the guy or the book, though.

Vanishes, appearances, exchanges can all be done with cartons.
Paints and tape and decor finish the job. Blair

Well... there is Jim Gerrish's PVC Pipe and Dollar Store Illusions book: http://www.magicnook.com/pvcpipe1.htm
I have the first three volumes, and there's a lot of good stuff in there. But remember- it's all about how much you rehearse.

Then there is the assistants, the trailer to carry them, the insurance, the truck to pull them, the costumes, the lighting, the sound system, the backdrops, just for starters.
Budget about $25,000, not including the truck to pull the trailer.

Try the Victory Carton Illusions, they are very low budget illusions that still work very well with audiences.
