I am really curious about this. Rus always has a knack of coming up with easy to perform miracles. When you look at the bullet points:
Spectator does all the shuffling No forces different card everytime 100% hit rate No sleights Instant Reset It makes me wonder if this could be utilized in other routines as well. Perhaps something of a utility device? Hope Rus gets this squared away soon, I look forward to seeing how this works. Looks very interesting! |

Hi all
here is the demo for ANALYSIS: http://www.deceptionartist.com/comingsoon.cfm This uses no Sleights, no forces, all shuffled by the spectator, different card everytime..... The Demo shows a basic performance, this can be used for gambling demonstrations, mentalism for mindreading, heck you don't even need to know the card yourself until the reveal! This will be avaliable later today..... All the best R |

I like people to be sure they are buying something they would perform.
I know myself when I purchase effects I like to have a good idea of what I'm buying. All the best R |

Hi Rus,
THe effect looks very nice, my question is have you checked throughly that the method used is not already available written up in a book ? Having seen the demo , there is an old method that duplicates the effect exactly . I think the reasons why the old method is not often used is because: 1) Deck cannot be borrowed 2) The time taken to prepare the deck 3) A riffle shuffle by the spectator stops the effect If the above have been eliminated Rus then you have moved the effect forwards by light years. Hi
A riffle shuffle does not change anything in the effect, No preparation is needed, I have never seen this in print, this is something I have performed for years way back when I first got into magic. Hope that helps. R |

Having had a chance to take a look at this myself, I can tell you that this is one of the most devious things I have seen Rus come up with. Believe it or not, the cards are not gaffed. There is practically no set up... you don't have to do anything to the cards.
Oh and in the video Rus fans out the cards and looks through them when the spectator hands them back, .... well that is not actually necessary. In fact you could find their card without ever looking at the faces. This is definitely not a one off effect, but a utility... method, I guess is what you would call it. There are endless possibilities with this effect. Your going to laugh when you find out how simple it is. |

Very, very nice.
- Simple to do. No skill needed. - No setup time. - You do need to carry something with you (not a big deal). - Completely gimmick-free. - Can't be done with a borrowed deck, unless it meets certain criteria. - Spec has complete freedom of card selection. - Spec can shuffle all they want. - No memorizing. - No stacking. - No sleights. - Liberal angles, but can't be surrounded.
Some think Houdini used trap doors in his act, but he was just going through a stage.

OK- just read the pdf. Everything is true that Genetony states in above post, though, I think this could be done with a borrowed deck (oh, Tony did say it can if meets certain criteria-this is true) and could be done surrounded in certain situations- maybe if you are seated. But all in all- this is sweet. Again, purely simple but yet so baffling as most Rus' effects. For the price- you can't go wrong. This is something you can start doing right away. I think this could even fly by fellow magicians!
Another Great One Rus! RNK

BUT there are at least other two old and ungimmicked methods that have nothing to see with yours, Andy. One of those two methods could only give you some problem on your point 3). But it MAY still work anyway. The other old method has no problem with any of your 3 points. However you cannot borrow a deck unless you are very lucky or you are in someone's home and you know which kinds of deck they own way before you try this method.

I've just downloaded this and am impressed. I have a couple of Rus' other effects so I could be sure that I would like this one. Will I use it? Yes I will. It will suit me to do it as a quick encore almost as an afterthought. I would think other performers could make this into a big thing - depending on their performing personality.
