I don't do any silk magic. I'm not that talented for the kind of smooth routines I love. But a few years ago I bought a very cool silver "star" with a load chamber hidden on the back of one of the star points. Duane Laflin had it made and it blew me away.

I have a Japanese VHS tape for it and I'd love to perform it but not sure about it.

Any ideas, info, etc. would be helpful.

Is this something that is well known?

Thanks
Carl

This item was created initially (not certain of this?!) by Shigeo Takagi.
Many of his proteges feature it in their lectures for magicians.
Notably, Shintaro Fujiyama.

Several variations exist: some with a single load chamber, others with multiple magnetic load chambers that can be removed or repositioned.
I seem to recall on that had a fickle fire like attachment so that you could create flames when needed.

Seams to me that I saw a variation of this that Karl Norman made years ago.

Is this a single or double load chamber?

I would patter something around reaching through a fifth dimension and retrieving things.

Thanks! It's a single load that is welded to the back. The tape I have is of Shintaro.

Any guess on what it's worth?

Thanks

I don't understand what your question is.

Can you post a picture of your prop? Use the attachment box below please to have it appear in the comment area.

If you are asking if a production is a good trick, it can be, if you practice. It all depends if you want to make it funny or serious. Use patter or find music to accompany your actions. I think all productions should be done in a 'snappy' manner and show some energy in your actions.

I would assume the reason you purchased it, was because something about it told you you liked it, thus it must have some merit. Just start working on it every day, until your totally familiar with the prop and the working.

Good Luck and have fun!

We all posted at the same time, how about that. So you want to sell it. It is worth what you paid for it, as I don't see it being anything of great value. The price is also controlled by demand or finding someone who wants it enough to pay your price. Currently, the econony has affected the sales on the Café and in magic generally.

As I said, post a picture, you can try to sell it in the Let's Make a Deal section of the Café.

My apologies for the confusion. Thanks for all of the great info. I'll be selling this in the tricks for sale section today. It's a great prop but I don't think a serious silk routine fits my style.
