Ok ok, so the other night was my first purchase at Mindshocks, to start I feel it is necessary to mention I am me and in no way associated with mindshocks other than being a new customer of their work. I will also be honest and say right now I am only 19 and not a professional performer in the way that I don't work every week performing in various venues, but I am slowly breaking through so that you have a little background to base this review on. Now that I have that little bit out of the way, lets get started! I purchased some great products using Mindshock's discount they have right now:
-Rhyme Time Sublime by Dr. Bill: Ok, so this is a nice little idea that can be used to force a word on just about anything with writing on it. This is clean, simple and shockingly effective. I liked this product and some of the ideas presented, but I think that some people may not like this because it actually does take a bit of balls and there is a chance something could go wrong. While writing this actually, I think that this could be really nice with Danny Garcia's Party Revelation that for some reason I have yet to ever hear mentioned. Recommended, but only for those of us who are ballsy and can think on their feet. -The Office By Bill Dekel: Ok so I literally just finished reading this, I loved this idea and it has such an inception feel to it, it is amazing. This is another ballsy one(ish) that takes more of the performance aspect than the methodology to accomplish it. I can't recommend this enough, it is a great little gem and shows how genius Mr. Dekel is. -Swipeit By Jose Prager: Ok so I bought this because I had heard many many great things about it and I own Fate which is a great companion piece to this lovely little idea. Basicly you do impromptu organic mindreading that will really blow away your audience if performed right. I am going to get a phone upgrade today hopefully and work out a way this can be done on my new phone which wont be an iphone. Great idea and very very affordable, Mr. Prager is a very great thinker judging from this release. -Mindcraft Psionics By Bill Dekel: A very interesting and nice collection of ideas and routines by Bill Dekel, I read through this one and liked it a lot. Almost every bit of the material is impromptu and not really all that difficult, but at the same time very very deceptive stuff. I will state for those who don't know about all of Dekel's work, but most things in this book are a little ballsy, but he has created some very nice nearly fool proof systems to get the outcomes he looked for. I recommend this too, for $20 you get a really nice collection of concepts, ideas and routines that are very useable. -Musical Influences By Nefesch: So first off I think Nefesch is one of the real innovators of mentalism right now, he is doing some pretty incredible stuff and creating some new plots, this being one of them. First let me say I am a musician, so I may be a little biased here but at the same time...that doesn't matter, this collection of music related mentalism ideas is incredible and there is not really anything that is going to convince me other wise. This is pretty much a complete crash course on using a musical instrument to influence people's thoughts, there are four main variations and lots of tips as well as solutions for the not so musically talented as well as how to use other instruments. Great great book and I was very impressed and, dare I say it, influenced by the originality. -Silhouette By Dee Christopher: If I had to pick my least favorite purchase this time around, this would probably be it, but on that note I still think it is ok. The presentational idea and concept is good and it will work very very well and blow your audiences away, but I can think of a few cleaner ways to handle the routine and I wish a better product description had been given. Liked it, but not absolutely in love with it. If anybody has any additional thoughts or questions don't hesitate to say something! -Jake |

Hey Jake
thanks for posting. I'd be very interested how your opinion will have changed/or not... in a couple of months when you've had a chance to really test them out. best dave

I will post up a post review review in a while when I start working some of these ideas into my work, but it may be a while because life is pretty hectic right now but it will happen eventually! I will definitely say my favorite purchase this time around was Musical Influences, I think that it alongside Fate, Swipeit and a good old fashioned centre tear or peek could be a really powerful impromptu set all based around music.

I have had the same thing happen, but then again I do a lot more ballsy things in my performances than are in these books so I am sure they will work without any hitch

Hey everyone, it has been a long while but I have some feedback on a few of the products I reviewed on here! First thing I have to mention is Musical Influences, wow, I have been using this as an opener to a music based mentalism act that I put together and it is hightly commercial while being an absolute joy to perform! Mr. Prager's swipeit is also something I often pull out to actually sell my aforementioned act to people and with some subtle slieght of mouth you can really play this up even more by making them forget their phone being involved, I am known as someone who can walk up to you and tell you everything about your musical tastes now The other purchases, I haven't really found a place for them outside of using some of the ideas and concepts presented in their books which I am kicking myself for. Over all, nearly four months later I am sticking by my thoughts, the information I gained was very beneficial and if you all would excuse me I am off to enjoy the beautiful day

Best try before .
I have tried a lot of them and they simply do not work or are too easily spotted by spec. |

Thanks for sharing. It's been hard to find many reviews at all of Musical Influences.
