I can't remember where, but I saw a version of the Metamorpho Spots that used a bag, rather than a can.
In this version the performer shook the spots off the bag (using a colour changing silk principle), and then revealed that the silks are now spotted. I believe this version did NOT have the dog kicker at the end. If anyone knows the name of the effect, it would be great - thanks! |

Never mind, I found the original video where I saw it.
Turns out he did two different tricks, but in my mind I remembered them as being the same. |

However this is a good idea. Does anyone know if anybodys produced a bag version of this effect? It' would be more transportable and easy to construct. I'll have to start lookin for fabric to make one of thes up.

Here is something similar in approach although not exactly the same.

I loved Metamorpho Spots and on the rare occasion that I get booked for kid shows these days, I always use it. A bag version probably would not replace my can version, but I would definitely love to have and use it. The idea is great!

In "Tote Bag Change Bag" in my Dollar Store Magic Book 1 (on my site), I show how to convert some inexpensive Dollar Store Tote Bags into a "Spotty" Tote.

One thing that I'd really like to see is a similar effect, but with some color to it. From the time when I was a kid, seeing Metamorpho Spots for the first time, I wished that it was in red and white, yellow and blue, or some other nice color combination.

If you're not adverse to making the trick yourself, that's exactly what you get from following my "Tote Bag Change Bag" instructions mentioned previously. In the example given in the e-Book, I show how to make the effect with yellow and red dots, but other colors are as easy to achieve. For example, you could make red and green dots for a Christmas themed show, ending with a Christmas Tree or an Elf instead of the Spotty Dog. "Do-It-Yourself" means that YOU are in charge!
