For those who use bigger wands/biggest wand(or know about them), feedback requested. What I have typically done in the past is use the wands to eventually either vanish a silk, or at Xmas I had the biggest wand(last wand used) magically color an Xmas tree picture. Both of these have worked well, I just got can of wands(barry mitchell product- 5 spring magic wands in a can) What do you think of the idea of waving the wand, opening the can, it is empty, wave a "BIGGER MAGIC WAND", open it...again nothing, then at the end with the final wand, switch out the can, and open it to have the 5 spring wands pop out...
Is it "too much wand", or is it a nice finale to have all the bigger wands out there and cap it off with some spring wand action? What are your thoughts? |

I think Bigger Wands does better standing alone. When I got my set, the first thing I noticed is that the gag was more important than the trick I did with it. I tried to do a really good trick with Bigger Wands and it wasn't as effective as doing a simple vanish or production.

I agree that the trick plays second to the wand itself, that is why I am wondering if the can of wands might be a good compliment as the "magic" is a simple appearance of wands from an empty can...

I don't have bigger Wands yet, but as a creative magic portion holder, I am thinking about how I would use it when it comes. So without any audience reaction to provide the negative feedback I often require, I have been thinking of combining it with something ike a giant appearing straw. The straw doesn't appear, doesn't appear and then the largest wand creates a giant straw. In my confused mind, this seems to have some logic.

Randy, I think you should stick with Barry's Product and sell me your set of bigger wands.

The Can of Wands is a great gag so, by using it in another routine, you get two great routines. I don't think adding it to Bigger Wands is going to make Bigger Wands a greater success but you should try it out. If it really increases the response than you've got a real winner. If not, you just go back to doing Bigger Wands by itself and use the Can of Wands in another routine. |

Randy;
If my set of bigger wands had ten wands in it I would be OK once I get the kids yelling “we need a bigger wand” I could keep going all day; my finish is producing alive rabbit out of a box So the mixture of the kids getting a kick of seeing a bigger wand come out from everywhere, along with the anticipation of a rabbit at the end and the enjoyment they have yelling, makes for a dynamite ending. If performed correctly I don’t think you can have too many wands |

I agree that using Can O Wands with Bigger Wands doesn't seem quite right. They are too similar, but at the same time, very different.
With Bigger Wands, I find that various comedy failures along the way help...and also, it's better to use just a few of the Bigger wands, rather than repeat the gag too often....unless you have those comedy moments in between. |

I have a few routines where I use a series of gag wands (so I've got lots of gag wands, although I don't use them ALL in the same show).
If it were me, I'd put the Can of Wands as the main wand with one routine, and the Bigger Wands as the main wands with a different routine. Also, because the Can of Wands contain wands that behave like spring snakes, you can get lots of mileage from them by trying to put them back in the can and having them fly out un-noticed, etc. So, that has its own comedy potential aside from them just popping out of the can. - Donald

Donald,
Yeah that is certainly a strong point to use the can of wands in a separate setting, as I would lose out on a bunch of bits o' business using it with BW's....hmmm what can I use the Can of wands with.... |

If the 2 work in combination for you, great, keep doing it. There's no right or wrong way if it's entertaining. I have personally found that using all 7 wands in the bigger wands set is too many for my taste, so I use 5, and I throw in the "Biggest Wand" if I'm doing a show on a stage at a school (you need a place big enough to hide it).
I also do a silk vanish as the trick with bigger wands, and then have it reappear in another audience member's sleeve. |

Anyone know where you can purchase "Bigger Wands" from?
Creative magic doesn't seem to carry them anymore. |

You would have to buy them from someone who has purchased a "portion" of the remaining stock from Creative. Post a request in "Tricks and Effects for Sale or Trade" here on the Café.
