Okay. So the portfolio made its debut in my show this past weekend.

I would revise my earlier opinion about this device. It is without a doubt one of the all time best purchases I've ever made. Anywhere. From anyone. At any price.

Brilliant. Simple. Easy to use. I wish I could go into more detail without giving anything away. But you at the bare minimum are getting two solid routines: a drawing dupe and an entry level to devastatingly simple Q and A.

The prop is basic in design. But the potential is staggering.

Amazing. Ten out of ten.

That's good to learn David. I am just limbering up to my first performance with the folio and, with its ease of use, am confident how things will work out.

The quality of the pad folio is superior. it looks just like a normal writing pad. the prop
is just simple to use and incredibly diabolical as well:) for me, the extra pdf on the dvd
that came with the package is allready worth the price.

amazing and live tested routines from the master himself.

I cant wait to use this device in an upcoming show. I will review it in this thread asap.

best

Today was the day I used the folio for the first time in my show. I used it in two of my effects and closed my act using one of the routines that come with the folio. All I can say was the result could not have been better or more impressive.

I really am delighted - it is so simple and yet so deceptive.

I've held off on this but reading what David and others have to say, I think I may go ahead and make the purchase.

Maybe it's only me but when I read some comments about it, it looks like it's not about the performer or the performance but it works well becauce the pad...we had gimmick magician, now we have the gimmick mentalist...shame !
My comment is not against the pad, I have one myself Smile

It s still about the performer and how they use the prop. There will be people doing brilliant things with it and people doing boring things.

The pad is just a tool - it's what it allows you to do so easily and naturally that makes it such a delight to have and use. But it is you who have to decide on and present the routine. As David says, some will be doing brilliant things, sadly some boring things.

And some of us will probably be doing inappropriate things. I got mine from the man himself this weekend. Woohoo!

Okay. I give in. Too many of you whom I respect are praising this and I can resist no longer. Order has just been placed. Will offer my two cents when it is received.

So, any word on whether this will be made in leather, as was previously inquired about? And, can anyone translate A4 into inches, or millimeters?

...and, can anyone email me a photo of the pad, since the site has nothing, except the snow-filled video? I have no doubt about its' greatness and capabilities, but I'd still like to see it...

Not to be a smart-ass, Lee, but it "looks" like a pretty common standard clipboard (folio) pad. A4 is essentially standard 8X11" sheets

This is directed mostly at Banachek, but for those of us who built one of these after seeing it on his Psi Series, is there any way to purchase just the dvd and pdf? I'd love to have the new ideas without having to buy a new pad. I do understand that this pad will be far superior in construction, but as of right now I'm happy with the one I have. Thanks!

Hi,

I am sorry you are having problems playing the video. The video was really an after thought as the word file or document file was all you needed.

First thing to realize is it is in AVI format. Not all video players play AVI but most do. I suspect it is not the DVD you have, but rather the software to play it. As a result you will need a player that can play AVI to open it. There are many free programs that will work that are available on the web. I would suggest that you use Media player available for free at:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windo......a-player

If you explore the disc the file can be found in the autoplay folder on the disc under videos.

One other possible problem if the file plays slow or drags is that your disk drive is not fast enough to play a movie file. One other solution, see if you can drag the avi file and copy on to your hard drive and play it from there, if that works then it is an issue with the disk drive not being fast enough to play it.

We want all of our customers to be 100 percent happy with their purchase so if you still have a problem please let me know and I will find another way to get it to you.

We have found that the following four methods will enable viewing most AVI files that do not play in QuickTime. While none of these methods are foolproof and some AVI files still refuse to play, one of these methods will usually work.

Use VLC

Probably the easiest way to play AVI and DivX files on Mac OS X is to download and install the freeware VLC Media Player for OS X. VLC is also often referred to by its original name, VideoLAN Client.

You can also download Eltmedia player to play it. http://mac.eltima.com/media-player.html

If all else fails, it may be possibles to convert the .avi files to QuickTime .mov files using tools from 3ivx.

As for the folio, there are pictures at http://www.banachekproducts.com

as for getting the PDF only, Heidi says she is not willing to do this as the products is the folio and those paying the price for it are getting the routines and ideas as a bonus. She may change her mind on this at some point, but not yet and I am not going to try to change her mind Smile

As to leather.. if you do this the pad is too thick and does not work as well and just not as deceptive.

Hope that answers all questions. Would love to hear what routines others are using it for other than the picture duplication and the Q&A.

Hi Banachek,

Thanks for the reply. I've not gotten the video to play, but as you've mentioned the PDF was all one really needed then it shouldn't be a problem.

Quick question to those who've used the Q&A routine. Anyone thinks that there's a little too much hand movement involved if using the handling described in the PDF? If so/not, how do you cover that? Feel free to PM me. Thanks in advance.

So far I have used the pad to switch business cards (containing information) and found the time moving from the spectator who puts the cards on the pad to the one who removes them is ample.

Hey Neil, thanks for the reply.

My bad for not being clear enough the questioning. I was referring to the hand movements required "during" the readings (whilst going through the cards), not the physical operation of the switching capabilities of the pad.
