I don’t have the Night Shade coins, but I cannot recommend the Cartel Coins. Poorly assembled. Magnets falling out on every set I have seen.

If you get Cartel coins make sure they're from a new batch and have ring, not disc, m******.
Otherwise they'll be from old stock and may fall apart. Roy Kueppers' second version is an important improvement on the first. |

Do they actually exist? I haven't been able to find them, even though I was promised them. Every online vendor I have tried has the old Cartel Coins - and the magnets seem to be falling out of all of them. Even Murphy's only has the old ones.
Thank you. Jim |

My Cartel Coins set is the old style and they haven't fallen out yet. From what I've read here at the Caf, it is because the mags on early sets were held in place with double sided tape. And if they fall out you just glue them in for no more worries. That's what I've read. I haven't experienced it myself. The Cartel coins are very good quality as far as the coins' cut and appearance. I haven't seen the nighshade set and can only go on what others have said.
A Caf member did PM me a while back to explain the differences. I won't repeat all of what he said, just that Nighshade comes with an extra gaffus, and that he liked the quality of the Cartel Coins a little better, as far as coin appearance and ease of use. He also said that Nighshade has some good routines.

I recently got the night shade coin set. As a relatively new guy with gaffed coins, it's pretty cool and very versitle. The teaching by Craig on the DVD is excellent. I know nothing about the cartel coins. Overall, I'm very happy with the night shade coin set and think it's worth the money.

The teaching on the Cartel coins is limited to a handful of routines that aren't particularly strong. I'm glad they introduced me to split coins and I'm happy with Roy's workmanship (after replacing one) but except for one utility move the DVD doesn't contain much material.

NIghtshade only costs $150 and has a special English Penny shell that fits over either of the split coins. It also come with s supposedly normal ENglish Penny that does not fit into the shell. However, the EP in my set does just that. The routines on the accompanying Craig Petty DVD are very well taught and produced

I would choose nightshade over cartel coins.
