I've noticed that readings I give when very tired tend to be better than readings done when I'm "on", so to speak. I am much more likely to let the filters drop and just see what my subconscious wants to show me. Does anyone else note a similar phenomenon?

Just the opposite with me, once I hit that 4 hour mark, I'm toast. If I have to go longer than that, I need a break.
When I get too tired, I lose connection and focus. But then again, I'm an old fart. Tony |

And I should specify that I mean physically tired. A day of reading wipes me out more than clearing new ground.

Me too John, and when the jobs run from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM, exhaustion sets in hard.

The question is - do the sitters find you appear to be simulating a trance state when exhausted and go oohhaa!?

I'm not sure. I can't see them with my eyes closed.

John and Tony,
I think you are both right in your experiences but each are focusing attention on only one stage of the cycle of exhaustion. Walter Posted: Dec 31, 2011 3:21pm As for performance aspect for convincer, it is natural to demonstrate physical exhaustion, for example a "perro" in the santero/palero tradition will become physically exhausted to the point of collapse after being demounted by the respective entity. The same holds true for any medium/channel that allows itself to be taken over. After hypnosis the inducted usually demonstrates extreme relaxation (this can be viewed as another form of exhaustion as the muscles have exhausted ther strength and relaxed) |

Nice thread, I never thought of poeple performing better when tired.
Maybe it has to do with personality types, analytical persons may perform better when their "what-if-wrong" guard falls... Really interesting finding and I now realise that it applies to me too. Happy New Year! |

Uh..no
Could that apply to nurses, cops and firefighters? pretty sure nope. but hey, people do work in mysterious ways. |

For those not paying attention (rklew64), the specific circumstances are giving readings, not "performing". If you'd actually read the question and responses you'd realize that your comment is a waste of electrons.

I get like that when writing, too...
I think its about those times when we lose a little self-awareness, and therefore let what we have learned come through a little more without having to process it... I also think that's probably only good for about an hour or so, and then things can splinter and fragment too much...

Probably. At that point, mental and spiritual exhaustion have set in. Of course, I'm pretty fragmented most of the time.

Happens to me when I'm playing guitar, especially when improvising. IAIN's comment was spot on at least for me, I stop caring about sounding bad and just "go with (the songs) flow".
Since I am a beginner magic performer I tend to get a kind of adrenaline rush everytime I perform so I am miles away from tired, even if just for a few moments. |

Some believe that:
When you are working in 'the psychic' you will naturally tire however when you are working in 'the spiritual' you can go on for much much longer.

Intresting line of thought. As much as I complain about Intuitive Arts Festivals (aka Psychic fairs) being "grinders", I always wind up being rather pumped up at the end. Granted a few hours later I absolutely crash, but there toward the end I feel as though I am running at my best. I tend to let my subconscious "spill" and improvise my readings much better than at the start of the day. Your milage may vary.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |
