I don't know if this is old news or even relevant, but I found it to be interesting. Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) is set to play Harry Houdini in an upcoming musical on Broadway to premier in 2013. I am just having a hard time imagining Houdini singing and dancing! Jackman had previous success playing a magician in the movie Prestige...maybe it will work.

Hugh Jackman is a excellent actor and will be a great magician. It is not he singing and dancing, it is he is over 6 feet tall, Houdini was of short stature. I remember when he was on David Letterman promoting The Prestige, and Jackman tried to show him the vanishing pellit trick from teh movie and Letterman brushed him off. Never did get to see the effect.
Jackman takes his roles very seriously and will do a great job. |

"Houdini" has been done in two major musical incarnations before that I know of, I believe one was here in the U.S., and another in London's West End. I remember a review of one of them in the New Tops magazine from Abbotts as they had supplied some of the illusions (Divided Lady, and their Canvas Covered Trunk to name just two.)
I wonder if the new one is based on either of the former (book and/or music)? Blair

Yup, this musical has been in the works for a few years. It was announced in 2008 and supposed to start in 2010.
