Hello everyone,
I am a long time reader, first time...poster [??]. Reason being that many have previously asked questions I am concerned with. Anyway, I have tried to look but have yet to find a good way to produce a single card. As of right now, I have the McBride series ordered, but are there different ways to produce a single card than the one(s) in the DVD? Thanks. |

There are many methods on the McBride series. I suggest you digest the basic card manipulations first before venturing into unknown territory.

I agree. Learn the basics first.

Many different ways to produce single cards. My friend and I made a few ways to do single productions. I'm making a Word document to teach how to do it.

A student of manipulation must really allow him/herself to study the basics of card manipulation before ever venturing out in different areas. It is like an artist apprentice. Unless you have a good understanding of light, paint, texture and composition, you can not begin to create your own artistic wonders until you have learned from the masters first.

I am sorry guys, I forgot to mention...
I am able to backpalm up to 12 cards (Bees), and production of fans, but I do not have any text, or friend for that matter, that shows the correct way to produce a single card. Thank you for all the help so far, A.K. |

Well instead of producing a fan from the backpalm why not produce a single card?

He doesn't know how. Jean Hugard's card manipulation books have some singles I think....I don't own them, but I think they would have what you are looking for.

I guess I am not being so clear, what I am trying to say is to produce one card at a time instead of producing the whole packet to fan. Like, produce one card, drop it, produce another, and so on.

This is known as "The Cardini Single" and can be found on Volume 2 of The Art of Card Manipulation by Jeff McBride.
It will take practice to get good, but it's worth it if you take the time to perfect it. Cheaper alternative? Routined Manipulation. (Volume II—I think!) Kevin |

If you want the Cardini Single go with AoCM 2 with Mcrbride. Best bet is that DVD, very detailed. I did the this single in one night. I've pretty much perfected it now...after a few weeks. I am a very quick learner. Lucky me.

I learned my card productions from Ganson's books but at a McBride lecture, Jeff told me I was doing a "Thurston" single. He said I should be doing Cardini's singles because the Thurston/Ganson way flashed the cards. He sat me on the edge of the stage and grabbed my hand and showed me how to do it. That was a fun moment.
(Hi, Kyle! I'll email you soon.) Jim

I had the same problem. He corrected it when I was at his masterclass. IT was great learning the move right beside the master!

The Cardini single production is best way to perform the single production. It allows the stack of cards never to come into view. This makes for a much cleaner production. It certainly takes some getting used to, but once you have it, it works really well.
I also think the Cardini single helps when a student of manipulation goes onto the Perfect Production.

Kyle,
I had never seen the "perfect production" until I had the pleasure of having you show it to me. A very lovely production. Is that also on the McBride dvds on card manipulation? Jim PS: I am still intrigred by Lance Burton's fan production where he undulates his hand like a bird before the production. Don't have a clue what he's doing.

James, the perfect production is on volume 1 of 'The Art of Card Manipulation'.
In regards to your other question, I haven't seen Burton's card manipulation but it sounds like the 'Aerial Card Fan Production'. It is a beautiful production and it isn't that difficult to pull off. You can find it in Jean Hugard's Card Manipulations book, or alternatively PM me and I will sort you out with a description. Kevin |

Wow, it must be great to have a master like Jeff to sit down and show you the correct method. Must be heaven.
