The deal is that I need to lengthen a brass piece, and I have only a very tiny surface to work with.
I have only about one square mm of space to work with, if that. It's the head of a tiny brass bolt. But it sticks up onpy about .5 to .75mm high, and I need it to go much higher, like maybe .5inch. Brazing or soldering is out of the question. This is an electronic part that is eclosed in plastic. This must be done "cold". I am assuming that the best way to handle this is to try to but brass with brass -- but that's only an educated guess, and I'm still unsure on how to do that even if. The attached pic shows the best idea I've had so far. Which is to use an octagonal extender with a threaded interior and some 2-part epoxy. Any takers?.... |

Are you looking for mechanical strength, or electrical connectivity, or both? If just connectivity I would use wire glue
Otherwise I would have suggested your plan.

Nothing electrical. Just trying to extend the reach of a tiny/short brass knob so that it can be more easily adjusted by hand.

Can you use a two part epoxy and sculpt over it? Try and google Apoxy Sculpt.

I agree. Epoxy came to my mind too. I think that would work fine.

Try a pin vise to drill a hole for a pin it and use the pin as an anchor for the epoxy.
If you drill a larger hole you could put a brass rod in. |

Get an electronic standoff and epoxy or super glue in place.
