Hi friends,
As some of my buds on here know I've been working on some magic an illusion design for a production of Beauty & the Beast. For their show I've created two key pieces, the Enchanted Rose and the Transformation. I don't have video of the transformation since we're blocking it all out tonight, but I do have something with the Enchanted Rose that I can share now. What I did was build the rose out of flexible copper tubing and covered it in green. The pedals are a red felt with a bit of a sparkle to them. There are steel wires which poke out the top of the tube, each of which has a petal threaded onto it. When you pull a wire, it pulls out of the petal and causes the petal to fall to the floor. To finish it off I built it so that the rose is suspended in the air and had the L.D. install puck lights above and below the floating rose. The black fabric in the video was temporary and is being replaced with a nice purple to match the set so I'll need to change the B.A. to P.A. but I think that should be fine. I'll throw up some video of the Beast Transformation later this week once we've rig it up in prep for their opening this weekend. Hope you like it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShfvTc2FtBQ -Chris.
