Hi all, my first post so please be gentle!
I'm looking at getting a 'decent' coin bender. I have the superman coin bend and am not that impressed. What other options would I have, bearing in mind I want to: 1. Use a spectators UK coin. 2. Get them to sign it. 3. Let them keep it afterwards. I've seen 2 versions I think. Quantum Bender and James Clarks Sharpie Bender (which am I right in thinking are virtually the same thing?) and Coinvexed 2.0? Has anyone any comments (other than the price of the Quantum Bender)? Is there any others I should consider which are not like the Superman? Thanks in advance! |

To be completely honest. the Superman, when done correctly is a great method. If it is the "hook-up" you don't like, then I'm sorry, unfortunately, there are not many different variations. Either way you have to hold the tool, bend the coin, and ditch it one way or another.

I have the superman 2.0 and the QB2. I love them both. But bear in mind that they are two different things.
The superman is a test of strength as they see you bending the coin. I have never had a problem with it. The QB2 is more of a mental effect where the coin bends in their hand. I can tell you that I heard the QB2 is longer being made. So if you can get your hands on one I would. |

I have a QB 2.0 and like it a lot. I think some coins from the UK might be too thick to bend with it though. But, don't hold me to it. I just seem to remember someone mentioning it to me.
By your post count I'm not sure if you're new to the forum or just new to magic in general. But, if you are new to magic, I would make sure I really enjoy the bent coin plot before spending $$$. Perform with a pre-bent coin if you don't like the Superman coin bender.

Cheers guys, well I bought a 'cheaper' sharpie one and I'm really impressed. I must admit I'm struggling to hide the gimmick when doing the bend, and I've been spotted by a couple of family members when practicing. I think eye contact with the participant will help solve that, but all in all I'm happy.......just need practice practice practice now!

A cheaper Sharpie one? I hope you haven't bought one of the Quantum Bender knock-offs. QB2 is the creation of John T. Sheets.

Oh, man!
"Cheaper". Yep. My bet is exactly that, Sean! That's the problem with knock-offs, people WILL buy them, because they are CHEAPER! However, audi may have screwed himself over, because there is NO better routine than Sheets'! Time will tell, though...Audi, come back and let us know how it goes! Doug |

Coinvexed 2....... the gimmick is in sight the whole time, and you bend the coin during the off-beat moment of misdirection. I've performed this literally hundreds of times and never once been caught!

QB 2.0 is built like a small tank and very well designed. The original of its kind and still the best (IMO)

A friend of mine had this coin bender that looked like funny looking pliers that's used to pre bend coins. I don't know what they are called or where to find them.

There is a new effect called Element 80 that is coming out. It not only bends coins but it also twists keys and does crazy bends and twists in forks. You do it right in front of the spectator so you can use their coin. You can even do a double bend to a coin but that is a little more difficult and takes some practice. They should have a demo video up soon but it doesn't come out for another month or so. http://www.preceptmagic.com/
