I used fiberglass to make the shell I use. It worked well and I could match the color of the shell perfectly because it finished just like the wood.

Isn't the plastic dip stuff pretty slippery?

Sorry,
I lost track of this thread.
James I made my whole set from 2" wooden balls from the craft store. (Hobby Lobby) I sprayed three of them with the pastic cote. Yes they do have it in spray form but only in a few colors. Check Home Depot, might be in the tool section as to the paint section. As far as the shell I took another wooden ball and rubbed bees wax over it. If you don't use wax it becomes very hard to get off the wooden ball. Then I made places Bondo over 1/2 of the ball. After the Bondo set and before I took the shell off the ball I sanded it to shape. Because of the wax the Bondo shell will pop off the ball. Then I laid sandpaper down on a flat table to clean up the flat side of the shell. After it was all cleaned up and to shape I expoyed the inside of the shell, just to make it stronger, and painted it with the plastic cote.
Because of the expoy you can make these thin but you have to be careful not to sand a hole in the shell. While setting the bondo it is hard to get a equal cote around the side of the ball. You just need to have a feel as to how much you have, or you could use a micrometer.
Hope this helps. Any other question please PM me as well incase I forget to check this thread again

The Plastic dip is not slippery. It has a nice rubber feel to it.
Nothing of the same will bring any change, take action today!
Just taking a step, is a step in the right direction because when you stop working, your dream dies.
