Funny thread, two of my nationalities are mentioned lol
Being an Iranian born, Australian from the UK I can testify that the indigenous communities in Australia are in desperate need of equal rights and respect from the wider community and government, both local and national. Such is the blessed purity of these people that a non peaceful means to achieve this respect does not even come into their consideration.... Where the occupation is taking place, Canberra, things can get pretty windy, rainy and darrrrrn cold during the winter months, so a pretty good effort I would say Kam

Kambiz,
I agree that "the indigenous communities in Australia are in desperate need of equal rights and respect from the wider community and government, both local and national." Although huge advances have been made over the last 40 years - there's a lot still to be done and fortunately it remains high on the nation's agenda(though a change of government might unfortunately alter that and many other things). However "Such is the blessed purity of these people that a non peaceful means to achieve this respect does not even come into their consideration...." is, and I thought hard before typing these words, utter nonsense. "Blessed purity" sounds like something from the book by Marlo Morgan the dishonest American author who presented a fictitious and laughable account of a walk across the Australian desert with Aboriginals as truth to scam money from new age tossers who dream of a simpler better more natural way of living. The Aboriginal way of life before the Europeans came was necessarily violent in a hard tough country. It became even more violent, through no fault of the Aboriginals, after we came. For a majority of them life is probably less violent now than ever before. I have Aboriginal cousins and a nephew and niece. I have produced and directed Aboriginal cultural shows, and had Aboriginal friends my entire adult life. It is patronising to suggest they are any different to anyone else. Most are good decent people who want to live a good life and wish the same to others, and some are b*****ds. So they're the same as everyone else basically. I don't know what it's like in Perth but there are areas in Cairns where we would tell you as a new Australian definitely not to venture because there are Aboriginals who would voilently assault you just for being different - just as some white Australians would. Sadly, there's good and bad in all races, but happily usually many more good than bad. |

Hi Destiny, yes I totally agree that there is good and bad in all walks of life and all races of mankind. I consider myself as a person who strives to uphold and defend the victims of oppression, and no-one can deny that Indigenous Australians have been subjected to indescribable oppression in the past, and it is for this reason that I referred to them as such. They are a blessed and pure community of people, and this may be a gross generalization however it is this history of oppression that they have had to endure which makes them such in my eyes, and it is this reality that ensures their destiny to be a glorious one in the not too distant future....

Anyways, the only one who can gain rights for the Aboriginals is Mick "Crocodile" Dundee. He will drive in with his Subaru Outback, flash a machete (with no actual intent to do harm), smile vacantly, sick some fruit bats on them with a whirligig (sp?) and the day will be saved. Everyone knows that. He may also use a shark, because Australia has sharks. I saw that on Discovery Channel.

We don't have as much snow as Wisconsin. We don't get nearly as hot as Texas or Arizona. Our specialty is our extreme fluctuations.

This is near the middle of downtown in my city:
Yeah, it's pretty frickin' awesome. This pic is at least a year or so old though because the building on the right is the old YMCA and it recently got torn down. Too bad. I loved the basement weight room.
