The right fishing tackle carrier could make a good close up box or bag. Check your local Walmart fishing department.

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Perfect is personal and constantly changing. Define your requirements and it will help you find the right case.

When it comes to bags, there's a lot of variety. You could go cheap with a reusable shopping bag from Dollar General for $ .75. I've seen teacher's bags, which are larger with several pockets. Office supply stores have them.
Shave kits are great to work from, if you only carry what you need. I keep a catalog case behind the scenes, because I work from my pockets and the thing has dual locks to keep out the curious. |

Camera cases work well also. Especially the larger one's For coins I've been using the USB, Flash Drive Cases they sell at Best Buy. They usually have four or five slots in them.

I use a Kenneth Cole laptop/ executive case. It looks sleek and professional, yet has more compartments than I could ever need for close-up, walkaround situations, and stage performances as well! It was a bit more costly than I wanted to pay (sale price was $95.00), but has been so worth it.

I used to work out of an old doctor's case. It had great visual appeal, but one really big problem. To adequately utilize the space, as it was deep, there were several layers of props in the bag. This meant that I had to dig through stuff to find what I was looking for. I even 'lost' some props once and had to take everything out to find them. I would assume that any deep case- camera bags, sample cases, backpacks- which I have seen others use would have a similar problem. I switched to brief cases over 15 years ago. As I am a wood worker I made wooden dividers for the cases I used to carry close up props and then left others open for bigger props. About 10 years ago I switched to the aluminum attaché/tool cases which already have a plastic divider system which come with each unit. Two of them I simply did not use the dividers for the bigger prop cases. I also found a very small one with a cheap tool set inside which I gutted and use for my mentalism show.
