Hi All,
Need some help. Watched the magicians TV show where they did a hypnotic induction (or at least that's what they presented it as). The volunteer was given gum and what ever the person behind the volunteer ate the volunteer would also start tasting - climax of the routine was the dessert (dog food). I have seen this effect before, hesitant to suggest Paul Daniels or the South African magician Martino. Can anybody give me any history on the effect, the name of the routine etc. I think it's a incredibly effective pseudo hypnosis effect. Andre Any comments welcome - any flamers will be ripped to shreds

I don´t know the effect, but I doubt it had anything to do with hypnosis.
The "hypnotic induction" you saw could well have been a type of misdirection. I know of people who claim they can achieve a type of telepathy using hypnosis, but nothing as impressive as what you describe. Good luck though!

Although I'm sure there are many ways to achieve this effect, you may want to check out Promystic.com for possible solution.

Hi hypn. I simply cannot remember the name but you're on the money. It's actually an old magician's effect, but it was never presented as you watched it on the magicians. The lads did it in a totally different way, with heavy editing, and no there was no hypnosis involved (albeit yes, sometimes they do go even with THAT )
I should just say that Barry and Stuart, in their live shows, totally deny hypnosis is real in any way shape or form. But do remember, that they are performers. I can vouch for the fact that they are both excellent at hypnotising, as they both had a truly wonderful wonderful teacher!

I am a full time professional well known stage hypnotist and have been performing on stage for the past 20 years. Initially I was a keen poster on the forums but then the flamers came along. The one's who do not perform, the one's that do not earn a full time living, the one's who spend time critizising instead of helping. I invite you to look at the post above - 5 posts - two flames, why then bother sharing knowledge when their are those who know everything. If I did not post the flame message I would have gotten several comments about "seeing it on TV and wanting to copy it, a newbie trying to discover a trick, yet another tv magician" - sound familiar ? I either knew or am stil friend with the greats passed or otherwise, Paul Mckenna, Max Collie, Martin St James, Shane St James, Andre The Hilarious Hypnotist, Peter Casson, Ormond Mcgill - and in the five posts I see only one professional - the person who agreed that he also saw the effect before. Now that is a constructive reply - I noticed massive convenient editing in the entire episode something that could have been discussed. Please don't reply to the message - I stopped logging into the forum because I hated the nastyness in people's replies to others and - nothing changed, so why bother ?

I think the reason you probably get the types of replies you're referring to is you don't come across well, mate. The foot you start off on is that of a threat, and then you drop a list of names as if that's supposed to mean something. Save those for your CV on the "References" section.
Seems to me you're breeding your own problems, my friend. You can't shake hands with your fists up. |

Yea I thought the same thing. I mean you are unknown TOTALLY and we just take your word for it.
I do not flame you, but you really are starting off on a tough footing. I just am not sure why you even bother if this gets to you so much?

This guy obviously has some kind of an attitude towards us and this forum. He's been a member since 2005, and chooses not to participate, yet when he needs something he just pops in, attitude and all, calling anyone not familiar with the effect he's seeking "not professional", gets the info he wants, thinks that by dropping some names from the other side of the pond (other than Ormond) is impressive to the "non-professionals" here (when really only to himself), drops a few insults and disappears.
In my opinion the typical "unprofessional" hypnotist ego attitude problem that Ormond always refereed to. He even brought the very "nastyness" attitude he even spoke of. Not he kind of member needed around here anyways. |

I beg to differ, you are incorrect. What is your basis and experience for claiming this?

You're absolutely correct of course Danny.
But TheBestMagician (of COURSE he is!)should most probably stay in the magic threads, where he 'might' know something about the topic. He's a little bit behind in this one

Oh don't worry. He will get himself banned pretty soon. I am betting he can't help himself LOL.
I wish he would control himself long enough to stick arround though just once. The place is more lively for having him here.
