We're getting closer; I just watched part 3 which is a Cellini interview in central park - really good stuff.
Part 2 is still in edit but very close. Then there's sending it to get authored...then replication...then distribution. My guess is 2 months, give or take a day or two. We are working on it daily, and I promise that you will get something out of it. koz |

I met Cellini for the first time at my Motor City Close-Up Convention in November, 2001. Since that time I have had the opportunity to spend some time with Jim.
Cellini is one of the most knowledgeable magicians I have ever met. He is more than a "street performer". Jim does it all. He is proficient in close-up, parlor, and stage. I, for one, am anxiously awaiting the release of his upcoming DVD's. I have seen him perform much of the material and I just can't wait to get my hands on that stuff. |

I got my Cellini DVD today; Magic Tricks that can be performed anywhere, and it is just what I had hoped it would be, and more.
I just posted a review in the Good, Bad, and Ugly forum, that covers the teaching style, and production quality, and something about all of the effects, but I know a lot of folks here have been waiting for this, and just have to tell you, that this is way better than a lecture. And although I loved the loop ball segment, and even bought a Cellini loop ball at his lecture, I am even more excited about the ungimmicked ball routine. (no loop - just a little white ball) that comes and goes in an incredibly visual and amazing way. And also as I expected, the teaching on the Devils Napkin is outstanding. I had tried doing it from memory of the lecture, and from the lecture notes, but I just couldn't get it. Now, this dvd really gives it up! So I now will have two new routines to add to my act from this DVD; the ball manipulation and the Devils Napkin. These are both highly visual, not that hard to do, and downright magical to an audience. One thing should be added to the name of this dvd, it is not only magic you can do anywhere, it is also magic that anyone can do! Don't get me wrong, it will take practice. But none of it knuckle busting or requires superhuman abilities. BroDavid

Bravo Motor City!
And Bro. D is right on. Cellini is The Greatest. (Accent on capitals there.) THE KING. (There too.) Ted, Koz-baby, glad to see that you're doing alright. Congradulations. |

Hi, Eric!
BroDavid, These are street friendly effects? The angles are 360 degrees? I ask because Ted--in an earlier post on this thread--said I think that Cellini doesn't do these effects on the street. Jim

These are not all 100% angle free, but what really is?
In performing them, with proper body movement (as suggested and taught on the DVD) you really can do them all on the street. And I certainly intend to do the ball manipulation on the street. I am off work with the flu today, so I have been sitting around sniffling and watching the DVD time after time. And I certainly agree with what Jim says in his introduction; these tricks are easy, and have great visual appeal, and look like real magic. The only one that might be a bit tighter on angles than the others is the Chinese egg bag effect. But even that one is possible on the street with a good sense of your audience placement, and holding it closer to you. I should have the review posted, with a list of tricks etc, later today. I just need to watch the whole thing one more time, because I keep getting more out of it every time. For me, this DVD pulls the London Lecture video, the Lecture I saw live in Ohio, and his lecture notes all together. BroDavid

Okay, but this begs the question why doesn't Cellini do these effects on the street? (If it's true that he doesn't.) I have no doubt they are great and powerful magic, and am interested in getting the dvd for that reason.
Looking forward to your review. Jim

In case you didn't notice that I had updated my previous post, the review is up at:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......11&3 On the video, he says that DID do these on the streets. If he doesn't do them now, it may be because he doesn't work the street as much, and when he does he sticks with street classics like the cups and balls, etc. And I certainly can't speak for Ted, who knows Jim far better than I do, but these effects can be done ANYWHERE, and that includes the street. So if Jim doesn't do them on the street anymore, it isn't because they won't work there. BroDavid

BroDavid,
Thanks for clearing up my confusion. Also, thanks for the great review on the other thread. It looks like this is another Cellini must-have. Jim

I've only been fortunate enough to have attended one of Cellini's lectures, but if you have, you may remember that he specifically addresses the angles problems on the street and that he works closer to the body and maneuvering to overcome them.

Well I'm glad the few that have seen this like it.....
these effects have been done by jim on the streets many times..along with the effects...you will get some ideas on pieces of the effects to add to stuff you are already doing....if you do the egg bag for instance ...you may want to use a loop ball...i promise this dvd may change how you approach it...the water pour would be great for building an audience....theres some really good material here and I think you will enjoy it...if not for something you can use but for the simple grace that this master uses in every movement that he makes...but after you get this dvd...and cellini blows you away...you will have a lot more to lok forward to...because we are hardly done...this guy is a vault of great magic.... koz |
