What would your ideal DREAM working table look like???

If you were going to invest in a quality table(s)
and you worked a lot of gigs,
what would your DREAM one look like?

Some GUIDELINES so we’re on the same page:
--They must look like some sort of real-life “table” not a suitcase, clown, or lounge bar.
--They should look aesthetically pleasing to compliment your style and persona.
--They should be practical, move around, and travel well.
--They should be versatile, so you get the most use out of them.

Some Possible QUESTIONS to Ponder:
--What size, what height?
--What shape or style?
--What aesthetics? Color, look, designs, etc.
--How heavy can it be and still be practical?
--Should it pack down small, or fold flat, or hold props for travel?
--Would you need side-tables, or a main table, for most your gigs?
--Do you need to have shelves/drawers for props during the show?
--Would you want or need some kind of wheels?
--What should it be made of, wood, plastic, metal?
--What would your low and high price range be for high quality?

There is a good possibility, IF there’s enough feedback to work with,
The table you describe would available commercially in small numbers.
So make sure it’s your ideal table for both practical and pretty reasons.

I can't just describe one table. I would need two tables.

One would be a rolling case type table, like the Lefler table, or similar. Except in my dream the inside would be painted white instead of black, for better visibility. I would also like a place for a built in small sound system. So, small speakers are built in the table, an iPod plugs in with an rf remote and you are good to go for small parties. Then it should have a plug to attach a larger sound system. So your iPod, or iPad fits into your table and is integral to your sound.

The other would be a side table. It would be like a Laflin table, with a top that half opens, and the other half is open allowing you to reach into a box. If the stand that holds the box could be folded up and attached to the outside of the box, so it can all be carried in like you carry a briefcase.

And that is all I need...

You are asking for the dream table - right? I would want the table to look like thin wooden table on a Eureka style table base with a close up pad on top. I would want to be able to hide a servante and loads of coins, jumbo coins and cards. The servante does not need to be too deep, but should be sized to allow the vanish of an egg, coins, etc. Ideally, people could stand in front of the table and not see the servante. From my perspective, I can have inexpensive stuff for storage/ display in the back, but would pay extra for the table toward the audience that allowed me to do what I need in front of them.

My dream table would be a keyboard stand table only lighter and easier to transport.

I'd have custom skirts made for it that would give it an understated, yet attractive look, in a wrinkle-free fabric. That way, it could have a variety of looks, depending on the skirt. Portability is a major concern and this would fit in the car.

Alan, I just might have to check this out. I can only lift so much and this seems like it would work well for most situations. I will call the company on Monday to see if this is flimsy or well made and I will let you know. And for $ 90.00 I do not hink you could go wrong.

I have to differ with your opinion. It looks sort of cheesy, not appropriate for a magician who wants to project class. It does not resemble a table, maybe a picnic bar, but not really a table. Function is great for a magician, but the aesthetics are important to his audience. I think there should be a balance.

There were also specific guidelines and questions listed in the first post, with an intent to describe a personal "dream" table.

A dream table for one person may be a nightmare to another - I'm accustom to ignoring guidelines if they're contradictory. I have to balance everything with practicality. For stage work, with a large truck to haul everything, almost anything is possible, if it will troupe well. But, for some of us, we've never been in that position. Well equipped stages, with curtains and a backsyage area, are few and far between. Some of us have to carry it on as we enter, or have it hurriedly put into place on a glorified riser.
