I'm thinking about the Davenport style spirit cabinet.
I'm wondering...do laypeople actually see this as a SPIRIT effect, or do they see it as an ESCAPE effect? In order to see it as a spiritual effect you need to know the history...of course this can be laid down by the performer...but here's the rub: Almost any effect, given the right pitch could appear to be a spirit effect. ThoughtS? |

Zack,
I have been performing the Spirit Cabinet for years and I do present it as a 'spirit effect' and it sells well that way. You do need a convincing storyline to make it work though. Otherwise, you do run the danger of people just seeing it as an escape. It is true that certain magic effects could be seen as 'spirit effects' with the correct presentation. In fact, the glass breaking table, serpetine silk, Artist's Dream Illusion, etc. are presented that way in our Halloween Illusion show. Though you may have trouble convincing your audience of say, the Metamorpho Spots being a 'spirit effect.'

Dan,
How about the Hippity-Hop Zombies?
