Can anybody give the link to the video please?

Would someone send me a link to the actual agreement that protects the secrets? I'd like to know what's expected and required of members. More to my point, If applied and accepted could I apply the notions the items suggest to me and share the new works only with fellow subscribers? What if a monthly item would work for me but with altered props and script. Just what can be shown and taught of the second order times inspired by the items members receive. Then we get to journal items of presentation and script. Just how much of this requires being left inside the clubhouse and what can be shown freely? For want of these terms and conditions I've stayed out. The parties have my email address and are free to explain what they will in private. My emails are known. -J

James- Please understand that I did NOT actually accuse ANYONE of calling me a "Rat". That was MY OWN word for the way I felt some people MIGHT feel about me- as if I "Ratted Out" the effect. Believe me, I am the only one suffering from what I did right now. All I'm trying to do now is PREVENT anyone else from the same fate as myself. And, of course, I'm venting my anger- can't help that, you know. James, I RESPECT YOU VERY HIGHLY- the things you have posted here show me that you are a class act, both professionally as a magician and personally as a normal human being. Much classier than myself. I am the type of person that can call a spade a spade, and a rat a rat- even if I am that person. While I still don't REALLY understand what happened to me, I am that rat, at least to some people here. I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I still believe that I followed the rules of the game. But the referees don't agree. So what can I do? Not much. Live and learn. But you know what? All I did was spend that money on some other effects. And I'll be happy with them. As I previously said, I was an unregistered "Lurker" here for quite some time before I decided to sign up and post. I should have stayed silent! I'll spend another few days on this thread, answer some comments, and then I won't be back here. After all, there will be nothing to come back for! James, all the best to you- you ARE a much better man than I, and I truly mean that- no sarcasm in my voice. And if I told you that my eyes are tearing up as I type this, I'm speaking the truth. I'm not going to disappear from the Café, but I won't post too much from now on. I'll still see your posts here, James, and I'll know who you are and consider you a friend. I'm NOT on facebook, (not my style), so the only internet friends I have are here. And that's also OK- I have real flesh and blood friends to talk to. My wife says I spend too much time on the computer these days- maybe she's right!

Come on now! Nobody thinks badly of you. You are not a rat and I think you are a classy person. You are very passionate and it just got the best of you.
If you want to rejoin, why not just write a letter of intent to RS? I'll bet you get back in.
Please don't be down on yourself, you are a good guy and a valuable asset to this board.
Have some coffee, sit a while.

Thanks a lot James, but somehow I don't think it will work. They are reading this stuff- if they change their minds, they know where to find me- just like they found you! But they won't. I've publicly said here that I could get in again through the back door if I wanted to- I'm just not sure if I want to anymore. Besides, I spent my refund on other tricks already. Didn't take long! As Groucho would have said, "I wouldn't want to join any club that would have ME as a member!". And I only drink tea- as a matter of fact, time for a break. I'll make a cup, take a shower, come back for one more look, then it's time for bed! And, once again, James, I truly appreciate your comments. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to "friend' you on this site, at least in my mind!

Look forward with anticipation to next month! So disheartening to read and see this thread. My how I long for the brotherhood.

Actually, I wrote them an email asking what happened. My wife's name is on the Paypal account because I am an "Alien resident" YES, I have a card that states I am an Alien. That in and of itself makes living in Taiwan worth it. Ok, I'm an idiot.

The best thing about the first effect is the ********. As an alternate handling, you could **** both of the ****** a little bit longer. That would ***** the ****, but it might look really cool.

I appreciate the lengths that the RS guys are willing to go to protect their subscriber base from people spilling the beans. It takes me back to the good old days where good magic wasn't so easy to get hold of. A time when magic secrets were earned, not just given away willy nilly. I hope this inititiative starts a new trend for magic. It's setting a great example. Long may it continue.

Back in the 60's, I had to visit and BUY from a shop for a year before they showed me the 'good" stuff.

Just a little note to all who are part of or considering becoming a part of RS. When I opened my package my first thought was what a CLEVER use of a classic plot/effect. I appreciated the out of the box thinking and it inspired me to look at other plots and effects as just a canvas in which to create my own art.

As a creator/performer myself I strive to do this with every effect that I release/perform. I applaud the opening release and I look forward to seeing what other new and exciting ideas, methods, plots, and effects are in store for us down the road.
Best regards,
Max

But when an idea in RS does inspire you to create a great original routine of your own and, as a creator/magic dealer, you want to publish the routine you created - who do you credit?

You do what you should always do, contact the creator and ask permission. if it is good then I am sure RS will give their consent.
It's not like RS is unavailable.

I'm thinking more about crediting than permission. It's impossible to credit an idea that was published in RS without revealing details of what was published in RS.

They had those shops in my town in the 60's too, but they didn't sell magic. And it was usually because they thought you were a cop.

I have to say I was very unhappy with the first shipment! The effect is to me more of a game or a stunt and has nothing to do with magic. I am sure I will be getting a refund as soon as real secerts finds out who I am!!! I can't believe this was considered a magic effect! I have not post here before but this whole real secerts thing so far is a joke!!!

Won't take the bate. Tempting, but no... I won't.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I mean I was hoping for an effect that I could truly call magical, like turning my baby sister into a catepillar. But then I remembered that a) I don't have a baby sister, and b) I am scared of catepillers.

I think this effect Rocks. Seriously.

I like this effect. I think it is magicial, fun, creative.

Oh no!

Different tastes and opinions on a magic trick and its personal appeal!

An idea that some are luke warm about and others love.

And how come only the bigger names really love it?

It this a conspiracy?

Are all the Pros like Max telling us they love it to trick us?

So confused

Do we have to always make up our own mind?

Are we forced to trust our own taste in magic?

Real Secrets! What are you doing to us?!

Congrats to everyone who got their first RS effect.

I have debated for some time about sharing my experience but now and after the first RS shipment hit the doorsteps of subscribers, I think I can finally voice my opinion.

First of all, no, I am not subscribed because I was refunded my money. The reason you may ask... Well, I do not know but as pointed out earlier, whatever they say can qualify as 'any reason' and case is closed.

The problem is that they said nothing.

So my only issue is their lack of follow-up and customer service. I just wanted clarifications hoping I can help them make an informed decision on whether I should be refunded or not. After all, I was never given a reason and when I inquired, the person said they have no idea why (technically, that does not qualify for 'any reason' but I am sure they have some mysterious reason for what they did).

To be fair, I was told that my name was on some list of the 'to-be-refunded'. That can be 'any reason' if one cares to make such a case.

But do know that I was corresponding with someone speaking on their behalf here (using their magic Café id) and to this date and in the middle of 'conversation', I get no reply and my recent message remains unread.

They say in life, "do not hate something as it may turn out to be good for you. Likewise, do not love something as it may turn out bad for you." My $160 refund is still a very good gesture from Real Secrets. It showed that it really is no scam (not that I ever thought so and RS knows better my opinion given my pm's back and forth with them).

And in the longer run, it may have been better for my money refunded.

Anyways, I thought I should share my personal experience.

All the best to all. Smile

Newguy- For what it's worth, I was NOT the first to mention 30 chances to perform this effect. I only SECONDED that fact- please check it out yourself- it's pretty simple- just go back to Monday's posts and you will see that. Don't credit me for something that I didn't do!
