Both were resolved quickly and to my complete satisfaction. Regardless of whether people think this is a good buy or not, I have nothing but praise for how I have been treated. I would like to reassure those who have been shy about dealing with RS based on their business model. They seem to be competent, efficient and, best of all, responsive. This means a lot to me -- I want to trust the people I deal with when it comes to magic, and they've earned my trust. Big thumbs up. |

I have come to the conclusion that my participation in this thread is no longer of any value. I am happy to see that at least most of the subscribers are satisfied with their subscriptions, but all things considered, I have determined that RS is not for me. I have no complaints about the product, of course, having never seen one, and I see no point in revisiting my earlier issues with the marketing and membership details. I can only hope that in the future the purveyors of this service see fit to be more open and frank in their announcements and policy statements. It is possible to do that without compromising the secrecy of the magic.
I will continue to read the commentary. Some of it so far has been a great deal of fun to read. Carry on, friends.

I've taken my time to wade in on this, I've thought about this hard. I'm probably 40 pages late, everything that can be said has probably been said. Either way, I still want to throw 2 cents in.
I think the marketing on this is top notch, 100% amazing. They have done something that very few hobbies, if any other, could have done. They have sold you nothing. Not in the sense that you won't get anything, but anyone who has bought this has bought this subscription on the basis of no information apart from you will get some magic. They have done that wonderfully. I know of people who have bought a subscription because they just want to know what on Earth they will get. That's amazing! I don't think that's bad for the people who bought it, I think that's a wonderful example of someone being inquisitive, and I admit that if I had the money I'd be one of the guys with an order, not caring what I get, just because I get to know. Am I sucker for their marketing technique? 100%, and I love it! Now, if you have a problem, it's just human nature, we love to know. Also, if there is speculation on the next package, I hope with all my heart that the next effect is something amazing and they put the last effect out to weed people out. Will I be right? Probably not. But either way I have a £10 bet on it. |

The first effect was better than I initially gave it credit for. I'm having a blast with it.

If I hadn't seen the names that were associated with this project -- if it had just been "Join up and we'll send you a magic trick." -- I might have been mildly curious, but I never would have signed up. But the names that were associated with the project seemed to be A) people I admire - and B) people who don't generally release a lot of material. That's what intrigued me, and was the reason I signed up. |

Why Eddie?
Kaufman sells lifetime memberships and then cancels them after 4 years. Not very good at his word. James Quote: On 2012-04-09 20:42, Eddie Garland wrote:

Sorry James about whatever your experience was with your lifetime membership.
So much has changed in the past 4 years for print magazines. I cannot even imagine the upheavals the iPad alone created for the magic magazines. Both Magic and Genii have come into the iPad age with great results. I have learned many effects by watching the videos within the digital versions and find both magazines of great value. Oh and back to RS... I feel the high quality of the first issue of RS was darn impressive, it strongly hints that the Real Secret Folks are indeed creative artists and not in any way devious. |

Hi Eddie,
Didn't mean to direct any hostility to you. I did buy a subscription to Magic for my iPad. I will never buy anything that has anything to do with Richard Kaufman again. And back to RS!! YIIIPPPPEEEEEE!!!! James Quote: On 2012-04-09 23:29, Eddie Garland wrote:

I would guess that he means those who did not get their email - perhaps lost it to a spam filter - can use that form to have another sent.

OK guys, I have received my package.
I'll let you know what I think when I've tested the trick in the real world. After all, I wouldn't want to jump the gun.
