I've just accessed the restricted area of the RS site.
Even though I am yet to receive the trick in the post I can see the value of being a member of RS. It goes way beyond just the trick. There is thinking being shared there that is PURE GOLD. So while non-subscribers enjoy their tittle tattle here I'm off to digest some of the wisdom over there.
When the chips are down, the duvet is uncomfortable.

So I can understand why someone could not see the benefit of taking a risk with a trick-of-the-month thing if they still have a bunch of great fundamental items still to purchase. |

I'm going to wait maybe a week or so, and at that time I'm going to reveal something that, if the people at RS have any cojones, should cause the staff to resign or get fired. Why is that? Because THEY HAVE VIOLATED THEIR OWN RULES! I know; there are going to be people here that think I am lying. I'm not. Well, at least I believe that I am correct in this assessment. Maybe some lawyer type like Michael Weber will be able to talk their way out of it, but I will leave these readers to decide that for themselves. Why am I going to wait a week? Well, I am going to enjoy fanning the flames of speculation. I'm going to enjoy being insulted by the members of RS. Come back in 5 to 9 days and evaluate my statement!

IMO Creativity is the most valuable commodity that exists, not just in Magic, but in life generally.
Based upon the first offering, I am not sure I will be able to find a use for the specific tricks that I will receive, but I love the imagination and creativity (and work) that is obviously going into the process. Given the rules of RS (which I am more than happy to obey), I will say only that I am enjoying the heck out of my membership in RS. Regards, Alan |

No matter how you spin it, Joe, the implication is there -- even in your explanation: If he doesn't share your opinion of Real Secrets, it must be because he's not as advanced as you (and Max Maven). Maybe you're genuinely not conscious of the inherent condescension...but it's there.

I don't need to spin it. You're attempting to spin it by saying I said he's not as "advanced" as me. (Never said that.)
Here's what happened. Ray wrote this: Quote:

It's remarkably frustrating to be told what you mean when you know what you mean. It's like when you show someone an effect and they say, "I know how you did that." And then go on to come up with some ridiculous explanation, and you're like, "No that's not how I did it." And they insist it is how you did it. And you can't argue them out of it. The only joy is in looking at them in their certainty and thinking "This guy is an f'ing idiot, because he thinks he knows something better than I that he could not possibly know better than I." Your explanation is good about what you meant, but it really does "look" condescending. If you did not mean it that way, I personally can certainly accept that.
