Ok just watched the download.
First impression was oh this is nearly identical to 'Haunted' I cant comment on the effect as I don't have the gimmick but I will try some other materials and make one Rasmus does explain everything very well and the handling does seem to be an improvement on 'Haunted' Looking forward to receiving my gimmick package Thanks |

Anyone who followed the original thread for 'Haunted' will remember Rasmus espousing the virtues of his version over Peter's. Looking back I think his posts must have been deleted but the point is that Haunted and Rasmus Haunted Deck (RHD) are essentially the same effect - a hands off haunted deck that can be performed with the deck totally isolated.
The main bone of contention with Haunted was the lack of consistency - you just couldn't control exactly and repeatedly when the Haunt would occur. Mark Traversi apprently came up with a variation on the handling that made it 95 % consistent. I can't back that claim up since I didn't contact Mark - perhaps I should. So, how do the two compare? First, Haunted came as a complete package - two ready-made gimmicks and extra supplies of the 'haunting' mechanism and the 'delay' mechanism. RHD supplies you with a DVD (or a download) and gimmick supplies. You have to make your own gimmicks but it doesn't take long and is quite easy. Something extra is supplied with the RHD which pleasantly surprised me - it's a small detail but it makes construction of the gimmick that bit easier and is a welcome inclusion. Second, the gimmicks themselves are practically identical so people expecting something different with RHD will be disappointed. I say 'practically' because there's one subtle design change that, in my opinion, makes all the difference. Third, both effects are explained in really detailed ways, both having a professional, multi-camera angle presentation. The explanations are backed up by real world performances. Fourth, the actual "haunting". I've got to say I was initially disappointed seeing how similar RHD was to Haunted but, in all fairness, I think the gimmick works much, much better, giving a more impressive movement of the deck. The top stock of cards seem to move further than with Haunted, but this is only my experience and shouldn't be taken as definitive. Fifth, consistency of action. Ah.... the fly in the ointment. The one sticking point is that the 'delay mechanism' of the gimmicks are the same, and can wear off quite quickly depending on use. Even in the RHD video you could see that the deck seemed to start haunting sooner and sooner. This basically means that both effects potentially suffer from the same delay inconsistency. Saying that, it's not that big a deal to 'refresh' the gimmick to give a longer delay, which equally applies to the Haunted gimmick. Both are excellent effects but I like the animation given by the RHD gimmick and am more than happy with my purchase, and the accompanying customer service. Mark |

Marks review is spot on and I really could not add much more. His words are quite accurate. The materials are the same as the other one released a few months back. Keep in mind though that even 2 chefs using the exact ingredients will have 2 similar dishes with different tasting results. So there is 1 main difference in the set up and this Is apparently what separates the two and makes this one better. The download is crystal clear, the supplies will last more than a lifetime, the initial preparation is fairly simple and at the end of the download, Rasmus has great advice and tips if the haunting is too fast, to slow, not consistent etc. These are practical logical tips and will solve any and all issues. Common sense mostly but it was a great addition to the download. Overall this is a keeper and recommended.

I think what we have here are two creators who apparently independently came up with a similar solution based on "Static" and other versions of the haunted deck.
The two chef analogy is a great one Rizzo. I haven't received my gimmick yet but when I will do I will road test as promised as well and report back too.

Ok so I want to follow up and say this is definitely good. Purchase it and you will not be disappointed. The customer service is fantastic, the download is professionally complete and the supplied materials make constructing this easy. Plus you get the exact materials that Rasmus uses which makes it certain you will duplicate his demo of this. Nothing left to chance by possibly using other products that may not work as well, hold up as well or give you trouble either in the workings or even tracking the supplies down. You get the full package with every detail covered. Recommended.

Dear Fellows,Â
We received some emails yesterday from Joshua Logan (Product Manager of Paul Harris Presents, according to his email signature), in which we (Mystique Factory and Rasmus) have been threatened. We never thought, something like this would be possible, so obviously we are very upset. The sender of these emails states, that the Rasmus Haunted Deck is a rip-off, but can't back this statement up. We would like to hereby make an announcement regarding this effect: The creator of the Rasmus Haunted Deck had an idea in 1988 about this effect. At that time, he didn’t found the props that he needed to make this effect work properly. Later on, he had an inspiration thanks to Alexander Koelle and of course he gave credits to David Jade too, but as we clearly stated on the DVD, the original idea came from Lubor Fiedler 20 years before Static was released. His booklet, called '20 second card change' was the inspiration for the delay. Just to make it clear: The Rasmus Haunted Deck is an absolute independent creation from the similar version that is on the market. If you watch both trailers, we think the visual difference is absolutely clear. We are really sad about the whole situation because some people said we made an offence against the art. But to be honest, we belive, this situation has nothing to do with the art of magic, it’s sadly all about money. We received a lot of comments, emails and private messages from happy customers who enjoy the Rasmus Haunted Deck a lot. Knowing this, and the true origins of the effect, we can't even think about removing this from the market. Sincerely The Mystique Factory Team P.S.: sorry for the long post, and thank you very much for your support! |

Threatening? I know everything Joshua told you and I can't see any threatening at all.
Joshua has raised some really valid points where both you and Rasmus have both failed to give some reasonable explanation. Its your own right how you want to do your business but be extra careful when you use terms like threatening... if you really believe you ve been threaten by anyone why don't you paste the emails so we can all see this so called threatening.
