I'd like to make a few of my own Rigid Ropes -- not the version in Mark Wilson's book, but the version that is usually available by Loftus/Empire in magic shops.

Making the gimmick seems like it could be quite a chore. A friend told me the gimmick is mass manufactured, and used in some sort of industrial application. However, he could not recall what it was used for or what it was called. Does anybody here know of the product??
