Hope you are all well! I posted this question on the Illusion forum and do realise it is not mentalism related but I also know the most creative people post here so I thought I'd chance my arm My friend and I are working on a 7 minute silent comedy act. We are looking to put in an illusion. Now the thing is we need it to be seemingly improv or at the very least we cant be dragging any boxes/tables or big props on stage.
Perfect scenario both of us just walk on stage with the needed prop or props concealed on us or something that could be in a small bag (two bags are used through out the act so that would be totally viable) Two of us will be side by side on stage.I make my living doing mindreading so this is a bit out of my scope. I like the illusion to be pretty funky and visual. We have about a grand budget.Any idea's? Oh by the way this is our promo vid so maybe getting a taste of what we are about may help.... : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n9bUy5SuSo Thanks lads! Pete |

Hey quicknotist,
Thanks very much for posting! Looked at the clip and although a great idea and really impressive I don't think it would fit our style. Also our 7 minutes we don't utter a single word. I have a vision of something quick and snappy...an illusion that dosent overshadow the rest of the set. Thanks very much though! |

That would actually be amazing Steve! I'm not really into levitations so I dunno would there be many viable solutions such an illusion. Great idea though!
By the way should also mention that we are completely open to learn a new skill too...not put off by hard work Thanks lads so far! |

I had a vision of your mate leaning on the mic stand.
You pretend to hypnotise him. He goes under Then you lift his legs and leave him balanced with the mic stand supporting him under his armpit. Not sure if such a thing exists or is commercially available or not steve |

Steve that would be fantastic. It would actually be the perfect finale to the 7 minutes! Only problem we work a fair few comedy clubs and in those situations you cant really prep the stage area so we would need an act that can be done anywhere without any notice. Again its a savage idea! I'd love to close out the set with such a thing but unfortunately for our current working envirnoments I wouldn't think it be practical Thanks though and your thoughts are getting my creative mojo going. Thank you!

In response to your question I agree with quicknotist, the suit 9coat escape could be a great routine perhaps even funnier in mime, if I was you I would investigate it further, I know I am.
Pete excuse me for being forward ,but I must be totally confused the clip comes across as totally manic but not funny and nothing that wants to make me buy your service. Maybe things are lost in translation coming from across the pond, sorry this is not meant to be a rip just an honest opinion. Tom |

Hey Tom,
You wouldn't be the first one to say such a thing about us Promo probably isint the right word, we wouldn't be using it to sell ourselves. We know it very well wouldn't work to capture a corporate client or most any other clients actually. It's for the public, basically showcasing our "different" style. I think it's safe to say that there is nothing commercial about ourselves in corporate sector. Our live shows though for the general public tend to go down a storm or get blank stares...We both have our own solo acts that would be pretty different from our double "act" I'll look into the escape further though I wouldn't think it be right for this particular set but then again you never know! Thanks for the post Tom, very much appreciated! |
