The Magic Handbook by Science and Mechanics Magazine, 1961. Detailed plans are given in this special issue.

A version is also discribed in the Mark Wilson Course in Magic and the Tarbell Course. Not full plans though.

Several versions can be found on my site in The Wizards' Journals and Jim Gerrish's Hardboard and Duct Tape magic. From The Wizards' Journal #10, the WAH Production Box; from The Wizards' Journal # 14, The Inexhaustible Pumpkin; from The Wizards' Journal #15, the Nutcracker Sentry Box. There are many other production boxes in The Wizards' Journals, but those three use a variation on the Square Circle principle, if that is what you care about most.

From Jim's Hardboard and Duct Tape Magic Book 1, you'll find "Production Tubes", and a version in Book 2 - The "Pass Through Tubes." Once again, there are more production boxes in that section, but those two use variations of the Square Circle principle.

That's an excellent recommendation, that's a great issue and well worth tracking down.

This is a very simple illusion to build. You will learn much by creating your own shop sketch and then building it. One word of warning, if you build the AllaKazam Hat you will either need to modify the decoration over the cutouts in the box or be very aware of lighting when you use it. For a first build I would recommend a S/C with the cut out on only one side. Be creative, be different!

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
