I've just finished reading and watching this (thank you Rus for the review copy), and I'm scared to death. In a good way!
This is one of those moves that really aren't for everyone. If you have the guts -- and if the move matches your performing personality -- you'll love it. But I can imagine many a magician shying away from Flatline, *precisely* because it doesn't involve any sleight at all. There's nothing misleading in the ad copy: no sleights, no moves per se. Yet, if you perform it correctly (and boldly!), your audience will see... well, nothing. If I had paid for this, would I be happy with my purchase? I think so. But the fact is, it's so simple, some buyers are bound to feel cheated. On the other hand, it's really cheap -- and did YOU think of it? I certainly did not. And if I had, I wouldn't have believed it viable. So, essentially, what you're buying here is a very simple idea, plus the guarantee -- by a working magician who's performed this more than a hundred times in the real world -- that the idea DOES indeed work. To me, that's well worth the price of admission. |

Thanks gorecki,
It is a sneaky control, and does require a lot of confidence, altho the more you perform it the more comfortable and confident you will become at this, to a point that you will use it a lot. Thanks again R |

I received a review copy of this from Rus and feel that it is exactly as advertised. The control is not accomplished by any real slight of hand, but rather by focusing the specatator's attention while performing seemingly casual actions outside their area of focus that accomplishes the dirty work very quickly. Your actions, taken in broad context, appear absolutely fair and natural. Only by focusing in on your specific actions would the spectator be able to figure out what is going on, but the process is structured so that is very unlikely to happen, as the specatator will be taking in the gestault.
The more magic I perform, the more a fan I am of direct but bold approaches like this. The alternative is procedures that, while they can be burned and may be deceptive, are convoluted and contrived. This is neither convoluted nor contrived. I can't say that I've worked this in the real world, but I have no reason to believe it doesn't fly. And it couldn't be much easier. |

Thanks lumberjohn,
Glad you like the concept behind this control, I live for bold magic, for me it's the best, keeps my interest in this amazing art. All the best and thanks again R |

I did this with an ESP deck last night, had the deck thoroughly shuffled, card touched as per the routine, told the spectator that with her thoughts alone she could control her thought of card?
After a few moments of her holding the deck I asked her to turn the top card over! Freaked out is the expression I'd use. Thanks for supporting my work all those that have purchased this. All the best R |

Hi Rus,
just thought I would let you know I have now tried this out repeatedly over the weekend. Obviously I don't need to tell you that it works, but what a boost you get after doing it ! I am getting the feeling I got when I first started to take watches many years ago. So simple but so good. Well done mate. Mike Donoghue |

CAPtivate by Rus Andrews.
HI everyone. I just thought I would pass on some information about a new release from Rus, which looks really good and practical. It's a Cap In Bottle( yes I know another version), but it looks very good and only one cap & bottle are used which are both borrowed, and it's done in the spectators hands ! Also the cap can be signed and everything can be left with the spectator. Also, IT IS INSTANTLY REPEATABLE ! Also, before you ask, there are no pk rings in this version. A very practical method for this classic effect. Nice work Rus. Mike Donoghue |
