Actually if memory serves me correctly there is sort of a similar illusion concept in one of E. Poinc's book of illusion ideas. It is more involved and uses a vampire transporting (and finally combining) with a clown. However this bit is quite funny.

The car one has always had me thinking. Would make an easy way to do a car vanish on stage if you can show the car first, switch it out and then vanish the cutout.

The car wouldn't work in a live environment because it isn't three dimensional, unless it was really quick. It would be fine for television or film, but would it be ethical?
