Yes but you have to compare the total price of the room. They are still pretty cheap.

Hey Guys,

let me do my best to answer...

Labco will not be at MINDvention (list of dealers and presenters on the site is accurate)

My partner Robert Allen has lived and performed in Vegas for 35 years... he knows the lay of the land... when you do a convention that is as small as MINDvention the big hotels don't even want to be bothered...

I am waiting to get a call back from the Palace regarding Hotel Fees and I will post it when I get it... (no matter what it is, it's still pretty cheap compared to most of the bigger casinos)

The hotel rooms have all been remodeled and they a few restaurants that I think are awesome... as much time as you will be spending in your room and I think you will be OK... if you prefer not to stay at the Palace there are hundred's of other places in Las Vegas...

I think the discussion should be about the great line-up of presenters...

We do appreciate your feedback and concerns and I can safely say that this will be an awesome three days of mentalism (make sure you check out McBride's seminar just after we end... Ross Johnson is tipping his mitt on his Q&A Act)...

Thanks for your feedback and I hope to see you in Las Vegas...

Sorry Danny but I don't think $14.99 is Cheap (Unless you get a better deal)

Even Next Years Magic Live convention the "Resort Fee" is $6.00

and as others have posted a lot of hotels have now started not to charge at all

Golden Nugget where the SAM Convention was this year had No Resort Fee at all

While the acts are important the Overall cost is as well

It is disappointing that the chat about this great convention has been steered towards a $15 amenity fee. If you stay for 3 days, the total amenity fee is $45. That is less than 2 one-trick DVDs. Just consider that you are adding it to the overall cost of the hotel room (very cheap) and decide whether you stay there or somewhere else. If you don't like it, don't go. It's Danny and Robert's convention, they have chosen the venue, taking into consideration a number of different factors. It has been a very successful convention, bringing in terrific lecturers and performers, dealers, and a number of unscheduled well-known mentalist attendees. MINDVention is an enthusiastic gathering of seasoned performers and creators. While the overall cost is important, especially in these times, just factor the resort fee into your decision, and let's move on to other discussions about the convention.

I agree. If your squabbling over a $15 resort fee or the quality of rooms (OJ thought they were nice), you probably shouldn't be attending Mindvention anyhow. This should be the least of your concerns. I think this is a sign of the "magicians" coming over to our art and comparing it to a magic convention (first mistake). Longtime mentalists understand this is probably the farthest thought from their mind. I mean your coming to Las Vegas, for God's sake, and you're going to worry about $15? My guess is you will blow 5-10 times that in liquor, gambling and/or food, not to mention the dealer's room.

If it's too steep for you, don't come. It could be a $100 resort fee, and I assure you it will be the best convention you'll ever attend for mentalism, anywhere. Danny & Robert have always not only done a fantastic job, but somehow seem to keep outdoing themselves with each and every event.

This isn't about "tricks", or "inside secrets", stick to youtube for that. This is about seeing, experiencing and learning from some of the best in the industry, combined with a rare opportunity to mix with other peers of the industry, and the chance to get Bob Cassidy schlockered to the point of anything is possible, memories for sure. And that's just on arrival night!

Go ahead, stay home with your $15, you will regret it.

Trying to make this happen and bring a mentalist friend too - never been to one of these but Craig F and others say it rocks... so give me a few weeks and I think I will take the sign up plunge!

Many of us attending this year's MINDvention will be arriving on Saturday. What magicians are performing in town that night? Most travel booking sites are pushing Circle de Soleil shows, but who's up for something else? THOUGHTS, please!?

Jersey Boys is outstanding - "Love" is the best Cirque show imo.

On another note: Palace Station. I've stayed at several Vegas hotels over the last 20 years and so far have had only one truly bad room (Bob Stupak's Vegas World back in the early '90s). The online reviews of the Palace Station, however, have me a bit scared - many recent reports of dirty rooms, non-smoking rooms reeking of smoke, rude service, pre-paying for Tower rooms and being assigned the Courtyard, etc.

Any comments on the Palace Station as a hotel from folks who've attended previous MindVentions there?

It's not bad. It's a basic hotel room.

STRONGLY recommend you get a room in the Tower instead of the Courtyard. They are newer.

I heard Benji Bruce will making the scene with a new program I wish he would not release. Perhaps he will be selling them, I am not sure at this point.

I have no issues with charges/fees/whatever they are called but I would like to know if this convention is a good place for someone new to the mentalist scene.
