Congratulations James!
Are you going to do a talk on the stunt at the convention? I think everyone would be interested in hearing about the preperation and execution of such a great world record. Well done again David Straitjacket

193!!!! AMAZING! Well, James you certainly did yourself proud. You blasted your own expectations and made us all very proud of you. I'll be telling this story to friends and family for some time and will be thankful to say that I actually know you. Thank you for doing such a great job in representing our art. With more people like you doing escapes, this art is sure to flourish. I can't wait to read all about it and see the pictures.(Once you've recovered and gotten some rest, I would be sleeping for 3 days if it were me) Keep up the good work!
Best regards, Tony Parisi |

How about a race? With a tie-breaker (no pun intended) escape if it's a draw?

As far the aches and pains go, I'm pretty much recovered ... just my hamstring on my right leg is still sore.
Now, I promised I would post some more about the day, but due to being snowed under at work, and being unwell, I haven't! But better late than never, so here goes ... The day started about 8am with setting everything up. At 8:30 the witnesses arrived, and began their inspection ... 1. Weighing me to ensure the Posey was the right size 2. Checking the jackets to ensure they were genuine, ungimmicked, unaltered etc. 3. Checking the medical staff, timekeeper, checksheet loggers etc I finally got strapped in just before 9am, and we started a few seconds after. At 9:30 the TV crew turned up to film ... I still haven't seen it, as they showed the footage on the early evening news ... whilst I was still clearing up! By 10am I'd done 24 escapes, and had already changed my t-shirt ... sweat = wet = impossible to escape! At 11am I'd start slowing down a tad, and felt like I wanted to die. I'd completed 46 escapes. 12pm .... 69 escapes, and I was giving some serious consideration to stopping. Shortly after a reporter turned up for an interview. One of the questions was "What do you think of David Blaine". My response was "He's done a lot for magic blah blah blah, but I'm not really sure I understand his latest; it's a bit crazy!" It was pointed out to me that this was going to make a great headline ... "Man in StraitJacket thinks Blaine is crazy!" A lighter point of the day. 1pm - 92 down .... talked some more about giving up. Halfway point is reached, though, so I figure for 4 hours I can take anything ..... 2pm - 115 3pm - 139 4pm - 162 Then Stuart Burrell arrives .... no more breaks, rests, drinks, snacks .... no more breathing .... only escape after escape. During the last hour I was feeling dizzy and sick. But end result was worth it! 5pm - 193 I nearly burst into tears when the guy with the stopwatch said STOP. So there we have it, a brief overview of the day! James. |

You're making me sound like a slave driver...
...for the record I let you have the sip of water at 4:30 and the 30 seconds to change the bandages on your hand so I think that I was quite fair. Joking aside, I could never have come up with that style of escape or have the inner will to pull it off. Well done. |

Hmm.. a Posey with roller buckles? I would've much you to use the other with friction buckles.. heh.. but a job well done anyway.
