Hey Guys,
We will post some additional in-studio performance footage soon. Rest assured, Darryl Vanamburg did an exquisite job engineering the props you receive. I helped edit the instructional DVD, which was filmed after the Eric Ross demo. Those reactions are REAL. It's a gnarly experience for any spectator to witness. Stay tuned... |

I agree that some leeway is needed. It is indeed a fine line. One has to keep in mind that looking at an effect through the "camera's eye" is a different experience than seeing it live as one cannot misdirect what the camera sees. I know personally that many of my effects require misdirection, a MASSIVE tool in our business, to get the job done and if were to be viewed with a straight on camera, I would be in trouble for sure!!

Well..for $40.00- will definately have to wait for some reviews for this. I spent $30.00 on Jesse's Springboard effect a while ago(when I fist star buying everything that "looked" good) and after receiving it- it's now collecting dust in the "Drawer". Yes, it helps that Paul Harris is on board but still- point to consider- the blatant switch of the card will probably be noticed by most. I feel this is such a visual effect that people will know the card was switched out. Maybe, the haunted way the card is restored will impress them (that part does look good) but they will know that didn't happen with their card, especially after it's covered by an envelope only to be fully restored. I just feel there is no justification to bring the envelope back in play- that part of the routine stands out IMO. But, we will see after some start reviewing it!

There are currently two Paul Harris collaborations on release that both involve switches happening under a gimmicked 'something'. In both cases, I'm not sold. But that's just me. Others will like this stuff, I'm sure.
I can't fault the video, as it shows *exactly* what I need to see, which is enough to make my mind up against. |

(this is NOT directed to any one person..just an observation)
It is such a shame to see magicians getting jaded and influenced by their own mind. The most dangerous place a magician can be is to think like a magician, and forget about what the audience experiences. Please do the art a favor before you kill it. go back to the first time you saw your first magical experience, not necessarily a magic effect. It could of been a sunset, the stars above, your first kiss, try to remember when you experienced something beyond you, that could not be explained but only FELT! Magic is for them not us! Having an object that is broken and visually restores it self without any attributes of our physical world helping it along, is beyond explanation for them. It truly is a moment of astonishment, that they can examine and even KEEP if they want. Please save our art and become what you first loved about that moment of astonishment you FELT..for the first time. JM |

I know this isn't your product, but yours was the other release I was referring to. Richard Kaufman wrote a very intelligent post over on the Genii forum, and demonstrated how much potential it has. But let's face it, this won't work well for some, and there's no harm in saying so. The freedom pack, on the other hand, works very well for me. Thanks for that |

I'm really not sure why, but this just doesn't look magical to me. Maybe I'm getting too bogged down by methodology, but it just doesn't look right.

I'm actually not impressed with the video at all. The movement looks like it's caused by what I'm sure most of us believe it is. That's not thinking like a magician. it's thinking like a logical person. Too many magicians don't give their audience enough credit when it comes to them being able to see things as they really are. The movement of the pieces at first I'm sure will intrigue the spectators. But it won't take much thinking on their part soon afterwards to think "Hmmm m**net?" It's fine to like it as a magician but really think about how the outside world really thinks before you become like giddy Jr.High school girl over this thing.
True this may look better in real life than it does on the demo video. But I have a feeling it's not going to be that great of an effect. |

It looks mechanical to a mechanically minded person. That aside I think it's a nice melding of premises and will open up some good doors for odd presentations.

Would a spectator think magnets? Not that I've seen. If they did they would be wrong
It's such a good effect that people forget to breath. Animation + Restoration = Blissful Astonishment |

I'm still not convinced that this is going to be the fooler that the demo is professing it to be. If I'm wrong I will admit that. I'd have to see it done in person however and not just take the words of those on the Café or elsewhere.

This looks like it requires a setup which is OK considering the effect. I'm sure this would be great with a good presentation that puts the spectators in the right mindset. The critical moment of doing the switch is not really seen in the demo but as long as the envelope ends up clean in the end this would still be good. It does seem like there would be a ton of heat on that envelope though.
Pick a card, any card at all. Just don't pick a RED spade.

I think there would be more heat on the card and the deck, which, if I'm not mistaken, are clean at the end.
I doubt I'll pick this up, unless there are rave reviews. I do like the looks of it though. It almost looks like live stop-motion animation. |

But having said that. We all know that if the spectators do think that it's done by magnets. Th**** or a triple back flip from a trained monkey. To them their right and we have lost the effect that we wanted to create. Again this maybe much better than the demo shows. But I'm still not sold on the effectiveness of this. Is it a clever idea? Sure, but that doesn't mean that it is as good as it says it is. Again I could be wrong about the lack of deception on this. If I am great if not well then all the disagreement with my saying it may not be deceptive is for not. |

I'm fascinated by this and keep reading and watching.
1) You open the envelope and pour out four torn card pieces onto your normal deck. That means the deck isn't gaffed, so you can use it before and after. Also, the card is given out, looking like the pieces are joined. OK, so there is a switch. But the card is blue and the deck is red. People sometimes grasp for straws ro explain stuff. Who cares? That's what they do with the things like magic and other unexplainable things in life. I'm in! |
