I have found multiple reviews of Mastermind II
(which is the same as the Slate of Mind) But I have not been able to find any reviews of Viking’s offering. Let alone a comparison of the two. The price is easy to compare Mastermind II is $99 Viking is $150 without books / $170 with books. Thanks in advance - David

I found this from 2005.
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=82 Now I'm worried. ![]() BTW both the Mastermind II and the Viking Master Mind Slate are for book tests. (I seem to be collecting book tests and book test methods at this time.) David - David

I own the Mastermind II and it is a wonderful prop. Can't comment on the Viking model, because I haven't seen it.
The workings of the slate are almost as amazing as the effect itself. Hope this helps. JD |

"The works" are that interesting? I'm sunk, now I have to get it. (I've been taking things apart for investigation since the age of 5.) Thanks - David

A couple of trusted magician friends were amazed when allowed to see the gaff. I don't think you would be disappointed if you bought one.

I will. - David
BTW - I still don't know if Mastermind II and Master Mind Slate have anything in common with each other or not. (Other than the slate.) ![]()

"Master Mind Slate" from Viking arrived today.
Yes the workings are just about as amazing as the effect and my review would be the same as the others that have been given for Mastermind II, and Peter WarLock's "Slate of Mind". For the record, and I received permission to use this quote from Mr. George Robinson. =========== Start quote =================== “Actually, I feel this item has fallen into public domain since so may manufacturers have made it over the years. It is my belief if someone sold Maverick Magic the ‘right’s’ they basically bought something that they may not have had to buy. The unit Viking sells comes from France and we been selling it for over 10 years. Yes, it is based on Warlock’s Slate of Mind. Just a quick note about ‘rights’; even if a person has a patent on an item, the patent is only good for 19 years and then the item becomes public domain.” Sincerely, George Robinson Jr. VMCW, LLC =========== End quote =================== BTW George also mentioned that if he made the slates himself they would be out of a finer wood. But the maker in France wanted an old school slate that looked a bit rough. The only thing that will seem to vary between the various offerings is the color and type of wood as well as the quality of the work. (The method is the same.) - David
