"Everything is determined, the beginning as well as the end, by forces over which we have no control. It is determined for insects as well as for the stars. Human beings, vegetables, or cosmic dust, we all dance to a mysterious tune, intoned in the distance by an invisible piper." -- Albert Einstein

That is a wonderful quote, Einstein is always poetically right on the money.
I was thinking the other day about stars and came up with an interesting premise/concept. N.b (some herbs may have been consumed at this time) It had to do with the idea that since everything in the universe was created by huge chemical reactions that happened billions of light years ago. The energy and matter that forms what we know as reality today has been travelling and reacting with everything it comes into contact with since it began and the energy we are receiving now is already from the past (it has had to travel) so maybe, in a way, some things are pre-determined. Meaning they have to happen or have already begun to happen due to chemical reactions that are beyond comprehension... There is an idea in there somewhere. I'll post again as I'm on my phone at this time. Asher

I’ve always liked Thomas Cambell’s line, ”coming events cast their shadow before”.
One of the more interesting aspects of Chaos Theory is the idea that everything SHOULD BE predictable, given enough data. But what has been dubbed The Butterfly Effect shows that there is simply too much data involved to make predictions reliable. In a broad sense, we can know what’s coming. If I throw a rock straight up into the air, it’s a safe bet I’m going to have to move or get hit! But exactly which molecules of the rock are going to impact which molecules of the earth (or my head)? How detailed do we NEED to be? Here’s something I’ve used a few times. It’s been well received. Quote:
”I sometimes get asked whether I can predict the future. Well, yes. But no. Do I know the numbers for Tuesday’s lottery? Ask me again on Wednesday morning. But do I know the outcome when I see my 11 year old son dragging his skateboard onto the trampoline? Ha! Grab the camera, Mom! Tom Bergeron is going LOVE this! For the right audience, I’ve also used this. Quote:
”There are two different schools of thought. One group believes that if God can know the end from the beginning, then everything is already written in stone and we have no power to change anything. Another group believes that nothing is written until we ourselves write it by our thoughts and actions. The truth is probably somewhere toward the middle of that spectrum. “ BTW, Asher, for future reference, a “light year” is a unit of distance, not time. It’s a common error, and I spend WAY too much time thinking about stuff like this!
...what if I could read your mind?
