Okay, this is a somewhat odd request for ideas/help.
I have a series of oval 3' X 2' coroplast signs that I would like to border/frame. I'm looking for something light that provides a nice thin visual frame around the circumference of the entire oval (black would be preferred). It doesn't have to be more than 1/4 - 1/2" thick. Someone at a crafts store suggested using a kind of plastic or rubber material with a slit in the middle that could encircle the whole thing with out leaving any obvious 'folds,' but he had no idea where I could find said material (or if it even existed). I know there are a lot of clever minds on here with all kinds of backgrounds and access to myriad materials, so I'm taking a shot in the dark with fingers crossed! Any suggestions? |

I'm envisioning a rubber tubing with a split running the entire length. Could you split something like this?

Hmm, good question....
I think this is up the right alley, but I can imagine it would be challenging to try to make an even cut/slit. I wouldn't even know where to begin! e |

How about a big rubber band in black. They make rubber bands for industrial use in about any size or color you can think of. If you had one like 2' x 3/4" wide that would work. Should be pretty easy to glue on.

Does it really have to be 3-dimensional? If not, something like colored electrical tape around the outer border might work. They make it in several colors now, not just red or black.

I'll have to investigate the rubber band option....not quite sure how that would work.
As for the electrical tape - tried it, looked pretty bad (and black is the color that I want to use, so other colors aren't the issue). The 'split' tubing option seems the most feasible...but so far I've only found corrugated tubing that is already split. The search for non-corrugated continues! Thanks for the suggestions. e |

Eric, Here is the link to Outwater plastics for what you are looking for. Take a look at the other edgings they sell as well.
