In order to learn more about this style of performing I thought attending a convention would help me.

Are there any dedicated Bizarre magick conventions held within driving distance of Utah. I am about 2 hours north of Las Vegas, just for a base to start from. I would even drive to, gag, California. arrrgg!(LOL grew up in L.A.)

Are there any conventions in Europe? I heard of conventions in the UK and the US, but none in Europe.

Soooooo, I guess the answer so far is no. There are no conventions close to Utah, USA that are in the Bizarre Magick genre.

The Magic and Meaning conference is (or at least used to be) held in October in Las Vegas. The bizarrist and author of Dark Waltz, Michael J. Fraughton, lives in Utah, and I understand from him there is quite a lot of activity in the bizarre community out your way. He doesn't often check in here, but you might try sending him a PM. He's worth getting to know.

Pete, I would suggest getting in touch with Jeff McBride in Las Vegas. I think he may put on something like that.

Livermore California is close enough to Utah and Nevada. The Odd Gathering with guest, Paul Draper will be happening from Friday, April 20 through Sunday April 22, 2012. Go to http://www.Bizarremagick.com for details( under venues).
This is the third year and some of the West Coast's best bizarrists will attend. Very informal and loads of fun.

Thank you dennfox. That does look like fun in a smaller setting.

Although not in easy driving distance from Utah, the ICBM (Inner Circle of Bizarre Magicians) holds The Gathering in November in Connecticut. Joe Cabral is in charge of this convention. The link is:

At least check out the information and photos.
