It's kind of my ironic that my depression is the same thing that causes me to stress out, and have a hard time sometimes (when its bad, and I'm really stressed out.) to seem to have fun in my magic. I do have fun a lot of times with audiences, but when I'm really stressed and depressed its hard.
Its kind of ironic because I'm trying to teach a lesson, my lesson I've experienced, my struggles, yet I can't seem to have fun myself. I actually think I've improved dramatically since the last video. Or perhaps somewhat. I've been working hard still making it better, everyday. I think I have the technique down now, by far and far, I can do it with my eyes closed and never drop the coin. without thinking. Its automatic. In fact, if I think about doing the vanish, sometimes I fail at it pretty often. So now I'm working on my prensetation. I'm sorry this seems so forced. I designed the patter, worked on it for a few minutes, am pretty stressed with a magic project, along with my own demons, making it hard to make it as my best I can be. That's why I find it ironic. I tried to get a full body view, including my face. I need to stop looking at the camera. The next time it'll be better, this is just a rough draft. Here's the script/patter I made: Script/patter vanish: I think it's interesting how mental illness and magic are similiar." "Well, you may be wondering how they are similiar." "They don't appear similiar at first..." "It's been said Reality is just our perception of things.." "I can personally understand how deeply depression can affect oneself. It's a false reality in the mind. A lie. A cognitive distortion..." "We as magicians try to create this type of false reality to people. We like to CREATE false reailties for people, .. in a good way." (begin vanish) "Just as this coin appears to vanish...like in our minds its all an illusion." (Begin handwash sequence) ..."The coin isn't really gone..it just appears to be. Like our false sense of ourselves." (Pause a couple beats) (Begin production sequence) "Try and imagine people in boxes. If we can only imagine ourselves trapped in one,.. then we can break free."( Produce coin with "break free"). (Pause a second at break free, to allow a beat between the last production for dramatic effect.) |

Man, Fish, I don't know what to say! You're right, your magic has really improved. Sooooooo smooth! Really worked for me. Your patter worked too! Very cool and creative, guy!
Years ago I did many things with Music Therapy. YOU may be able to help others with Magic Therapy. You have grown SO much in a VERY short period of time!

What's weird was I also thought it was better than before too.odd. To me, it's finally looking better somewhat. Ponta was telling it was very good and that I should make a new video. I didn't think so at the time. Then I recorded,.... Was somewhat surprised. I still see areas to improve. In music,.theres an album called ' man on the moon'. A kid is stuck on the moon. As an adult he made a decision to fly off, made his move.... I feel like I'm stuck on the moon. Still to afraid to perform sometimes, or even try and get any type of gig.

I was involved very early on when they first rolled it out but have not been for a number of years now. You could try posting under another category here on the Forum requesting information as I'm sure some magicians on here must be involved with Project Magic. Wish I could be more helpful but I unfortunately don't have any additional info. Best of luck in your efforts contacting them.- Tom |

Excellent.
After reading Zen and the art of the monologue, and other books and pamphlets over the years, my magic comes to reflect more of me. It looks like you have found the same connection. Patter connects better with the audience when it is true to you. Keep growing and glowing... Harris

To someone that doesn't do coin magic (essentially I am a laymen in that perspective) I have NO idea how you did that. Wow, great job!!

Look's great Kevin. Although I would make the re-appearence of the coin a lot slower. Imo, slow is always a lot more magical.

I'll try to apply this to other aspects of the trick (except the vanish) and my other tricks. Slower is usually better, as long as it's not too slow and keeps up with the pace of the trick! |

I think I got an idea. I love helping others. What if I could help other people with magic that are also mentally ill through teaching them an easy trick? What if this could help them gain more confidence to approach people and rejection? This idea came to me after a profound experience I had one time in the psych hospital. One man just came back from war. He had horrible flashbacks and was a very caring person. He heard voices badly and couldn't concentrate. I showed him a sponge ball sleight. I never saw someone more determined to practice. He practiced with them for 3 days straight. soon, his voices were going away. He was so excited. He had something to to focus on. In those 3 days I noticed his hope and self confidence rising. When I left, I gave them to him. he improved a lot in those 3 days, excitedly showing people.he seemed like a different person..
