I've seen the split coins from two UK suppliers. World Magic Stores Split Coin and Merlins of Wakefield the guys who introduced the Clone Coin
Merlins Clone Coin comes with a DVD which takes you through the handling and three routines. The coins are beautifully made for them by a local jeweler and even on close inspection look like a single coin. They slide open smoothly WMS by contrast is the poorer cousin. Due to the teflon discs they've stuck on both halves there is a clearly visible gap between the two halves only fixed by pealing the discs off (which I did). Also the two halves are cut thicker I bought WMS but having seen Merlins would definately go for their clone coin. With the DVD and the beautifully made coins its great value for money |

Yes sir...clone coin and split coin are the same...the WMS split coin I think it actually pretty good...I don't see it being as a poorer coin...price wise, its still expensive haha..especially if you buy a silver coin in split...the teflon makes it smooth as butter..its real nice and easy to make into 2 coins...

However that's at the cost of creating a clear gap between the two halves which on the 10p is easy to see. I almost sent mine back but decided to take Off the teflon discs. It still works fine and looks much better. I think the Merlin Clone coins are overall better made and slide apart easily. When I got my WMS coin I was sad to say disappointed. |

One other point to bare in mind is the combined cost of the coin and instructional DVD. (if you need an instructional DVD!)
Clone Coin comes with an instructional DVD which shows the handling and three routines. With Split Coin I bought the coin and then Split Happens DVD seperately. This DVD has more routines and is reviewed on this forum. |

I know with the recent release of The Unknown there has been a lot of interest in the Split Coin. As a side note the DVD is great! I almost purchased a split coin and then decided to work with a coin by Johnny Wang, Perfect Power of Three. It can be used for the coin in a bag routine from The Unknown DVD and much more. It is yet another alternative.

I got mine from 'Merlins' in a £2 version. I agree with the comments about the quality of the product - is excellent
I purchased the coin specifically for 'Bag 4 life' after seeing it at the Blackpool convention. This is a fantastic effect, and elswhere on this site people have suggested some nice touches with it. My trick of the year - and its only April!! |

Aparently Merlins also do their own flipper coins. I assume theyll be of the same quality as the split coins

I got the 2 euros split coin from Wordmagicshop, it's absolutely awful , unless you have the coin in movement it's very easiy detected. My coin have both halves with diferent edges. Just be aware.

I love my Clone Coin, but watch out re: Bag For Life. If the bag you use has thicker walls the coin can easily slide and fall off. I have doing that some of the bags that come with Tango coins to be perfect. The magnet is weaker on the Clone Coin.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Agreed that bag 4 life is a really good effect, but a split coin has a lot more uses . I can reccomend craig pettys dvd "Split Happens" on which there is 14 different effects ranging from coins across. 3 fly etc, and even has a mentalism effect (Yes with a coin). This is the only dvd with routines with a split coin, I only wish there were more.
