It was one of the best lines in the movie

Humor is an interesting thing. Everything's funny until it is your own "ox that is being gored". There will be a handful of younger folks who will watch the movie, and that line will be just the wrong thing at the wrong time for them to hear. But what can you do? Its a fact of life.
Both my girls are from that situation. Had I been the director or writer and thought of that line, I probably would have said, "Yeah, right", and cut the line, just not thinking it was very funny - but nothing beyond that. I just wouldn't see it as humorous, for obvious reasons. Writers generally don't write thinking "ok, will I hurt feelings with this line?" I'm sure the writer here intended no offense whatsoever. Its a never ending cycle - things happen, we learn (that's both sides of any issue), we go on.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Oh, that line...
Well, it was a joke in a comic book movie but I can imagine if I was from that situation growing up I would be a little miffed...

The "other side" would have done a lot better by - instead of DEMANDING AN APOLOGY - claiming a good teaching opportunity, a bit of awareness-raising, and saying, "we'll all learn a bit from it".
After my dad died of a heart attack, all of the sudden I didn't find the Saturday Night Live sketch with the Chicago Bears fans stuffing sausage into their mouths and having multiple heart attacks nearly as funny as I had. Was it still funny? Objectively speaking, yes. But my experience made it much less so. But if we cancelled out all humor that might cause hurt feelings or pain, I don't know that there would be much humor left. End of dissertation.

I saw Iron Man 3 on the weekend. I thought it was a pretty good movie. And there was a nice bonus scene after the end credits, too.
Iron Man 3 is leading off Marvel Phase 2. Marvel Phase 1 was: Iron Man The Incredible Hulk Iron Man 2 Thor Captain America: The First Avenger Marvel's The Avengers They are also calling Marvel Phase 1 by the name "Avengers Assembled". Marvel Phase 2 will include: Iron Man 3 Thor: The Dark World Captain America: The Winter Soldier Guardians of the Galaxy The Avengers 2 They've even announced the first movie in Marvel Phase 3: Ant-Man They've also discussed a Nick Fury movie, Black Panther movie, Doctor Strange movie, etc. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Cinematic_Universe - Donald

Do you know if Guardians of the Galaxy will tie into The Avengers 2? I'll admit, I know next to nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy.

I used to read The Guardians of the Galaxy when it was first out. I don't know if they're going to keep this, but I loved the idea of a futuristic UFO landing in the middle of Central Park with "Captain America" written on the side.

I haven't really read many Marvel Comics (as a kid, I was more into DC Comics).
I have watched some of the cartoon series more recently, in addition to the movies. In the show, "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes", they had an episode with that tied Guardians of the Galaxy with Avengers. So, that is the only way I know about Guardians of the Galaxy. I also learned about Winter Soldier by watching the Avengers cartoon. It looks like there will be a new cartoon series to take it's place, starting in July 2013, called "Marvel's Avengers Assemble" So, I don't specifically know if Guardians will be tied into Avengers 2 (speaking about non-cartoons again), but I will guess they would. After all, when giving the outline for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Phase 2, they did put both of those movies into the line up. But they didn't put Marvel movies like "The Wolverine" or "X-Men: Days of Future Past" into the line up, even though they are coming this summer and next summer. - Donald

Getting everyone together for the shot was no big deal, but Chris Evans had grown a beard for the next role he was doing, that's why he's sitting there with his head in his hand like that. I don't think this is a spoiler [not that it matters at this late date] but some fan asked; ''Hey, where's Loki[q]'' To which someone responded; ''Outside on the sidewalk, with a hammer on his chest.''

I'm pretty certain Marvel can show that "Oscorp" has been used in enough titles that it's allowed to be used across the board.
Same as Roxxon which shows up in Iron Man 3.

I am pretty sure there is no reason to tie in every single movie in a story arc.

There may be a reason. But legally Marvel can't tie in anything it didn't keep movie rights for. i.e., Spiderman, The Fantastic Four, the X-men, et. al. This is why there was no mention of Spiderman or the Fantastic Four, both NYC standards, being available to aid the Avengers in their battle against the invasion.

They rarely get mentioned in comic booms either and there is no legal issue. Heck superheroes should be tripping all over each other in New Your but they are miraculously absent in most cases from other books.
Overthink much?

I don't think so. Overthinking is those people who tried to explain why Jim Rhodes (War Machine) wasn't at the battle or even mentioned.
There's apparently a prequel to Iron Man 3 (in book form) that explains that. Comic crossovers happen all the time in the Marvel universe. Not so much at DC

Oh lord you are missing the point. Is it intentional?
You do notice how in DC they pretty much give the main heros their own city right? Gotham Metropolis, Star City and so on. See how it is easier not to bump into each other when you don't have 230 heros (A made up number by the way.) ALL on the island of Manhattan? Stop overthinking. It is fiction. Comic fiction. Rhodes could have been on vacation pretty easily. I mean according to that theory where was The Punisher, The X Men, Daredevil, and everyone? Why don't they all show up every time? Why wait for your spacific super villian? Comics. Not reality. Too many questions and too much thinking is not good.
