This is the Workshop we had to postpone from last December, and now Magic Inc is very excited, once again, to have Helder do an exclusive lecture and a two-day workshop here in Chicago. http://www.magicinc.net About the Workshop: When: Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27th, 2012 Time: 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM (more or less) Place: Jay Marshall Lecture Hall at Magic, Inc. 5082 N. Lincoln Avenue Chicago, IL 773-334-2855 Cost: $150.00 Per Attendee (Space limited to between 8 and 12 people) Tickets will not be necessary for the workshop, just make sure you register soon. Pandora - Card Magic Workshop by Helder Guimarães Goals: · Learn theatrical ideas and concepts that can be used in a close-up performance environment · Analyze routines presented by the attendees in effect, internal construction, technique, staging, rhythm, and communication and try to polish each aspect using techniques learned during the workshop · Develop a critical analysis by each attendee about their work and about the other’s work. Requisites: Each one of the attendees should bring a card magic effect to present to the others attendees. The effect should be approximately 3 or 4 minutes long. Schedule: Session One: · Introduction to the goals of the workshop and understanding the goals of each attendee. · Presentation of each individual effect by the attendees · Introduction of concepts like presence, posture, voice, rhythm, suspense moment, neutrality, spatial presence, movement, script and character construction · Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the character in the effect presented and maximize both during the performance · Search a more appropriate script for the effect presented, according to the theme and method of the effect. · Analysis of the weak and strong points of the effects and try to use both in the best possible way. · Analysis of the performance’s aesthetics and organize all the elements involved in the performance in the more direct and simple way. Session Two: · Complete any work on the attendee’s effects remaining from the first session · Performance of the effects again, with the modifications that were discussed during the first Session; · Reflection on the changes and the contribution to the final effect and the final performance. · Discussion on concepts like aesthetics union, message, external elements to the magic environment, semiology of magic, improvisation, feeling of truth and scenic movement. · Final discussion to answer any remaining questions How to buy tickets: - Online: http://www.magicinc.net/Helderworkshop.aspx - By Phone: 773-334-2855 - In Person: Our store is open 7 days a week, so feel free to stop by anytime before the workshop to purchase tickets. |
